| ~ Olivia confessing her feelings towards her purpose at Mann Co. |
Olivia Mann is a minor antagonist in the Team Fortress 2 comic series.
She is the only daughter of Gray Mann, the niece of Redmond Mann and Blutarch Mann and the granddaughter of Zepheniah Mann.
Ever since her childhood, Olivia was used by her father as nothing but a pawn in his plans to take over Mann Co. and the world, even becoming the technical CEO of his company, Gray Gravel Co. to eventually exploit Mann Co.'s policies. While his plan was successful at first, Gray would eventually die at the hands of the TFC Heavy, allowing Saxton Hale to take back the company.
7 years later, Olivia was the last Mann standing following the deaths of her father, uncles, and grandfather. Uninterested in continuing with the Mann tradition or legacy, Olivia was instead inclined to live her own life instead of living under someone's shadow. And, with Saxton Hale's blessing, she was finally given the chance to go out and make her own trophies, just like he has.
Biography[]
Olivia Mann was the daughter of Gray Mann and the niece of Redmond and Blutarch Mann.
The Ring of Fired[]
In 1972, Gray Mann, after a year of using robots to try to conquer Mann Co's facilities, confronted Saxton Hale in the Mann Co central office with a regiment of robots, invoking Saxton's Mann Co. Challenge- where any CEO of another company can claim ownership of Mann Co if they beat Saxton Hale in a fistfight. After some confusion with Saxton's stove desk and Hale immediately pummeling Gray, Gray revealed that he isn't CEO of Gray Gravel- the real CEO is Olivia, who walked in right on cue. Olivia stood by with a sweet expression on her face as Saxton was in disbelief over this turn of events, Saxton threatening Gray further until Olivia put on combat gloves and ominously said she didn't have all day.
What proceeded was Saxton standing around as Olivia futilely punched him, having absolutely no effect on the hulking Australian but still relentless. Saxton pondered how to take her out, but couldn't bring himself to hurt a child. Still wanting to control the company, Saxton ordered his assistant Mr. Bidwell to fight her, but Bidwell refused, so Saxton fired him and ordered his yes-man Mr. Reddy to fight Olivia. Mr. Reddy agreed, but Bidwell held him back from harming a child. Gray, still injured from getting pummeled by Saxton, laughed that he won, and Olivia laughed along with him, correcting that they won. Saxton thus agreed to leave, but not without his trophies- only for Olivia to smugly declare that they were her trophies, ordering Saxton to leave. Hale decided to go out fighting his way through Gray's robots, but as a final insult, Gray switched the robots to non-violence mode, making them stand around even as Saxton furiously destroyed two and screamed for something to fight him, before sadly leaving as Olivia and Gray watched.
Six months later, Olivia accompanied her father in navigating the maze of shell companies Mann Co owned, traveling to the locations of said shell companies in search of Mann Co's Australium stash, which Gray used to remain immortal. However, when they found the vault at last in Mann Co Monkeynautics HQ, they were both shocked to see it empty save for a single ingot- but Gray picked up a discarded cigarette that he quickly deduced belonged to the Administrator.
The Days Have Worn Away[]
At some point in 1972, after the deaths of Gray Mann and TFC Heavy, Saxton Hale returned to Mann Co and simply demanded that Olivia give him the company back, which she did. Regardless, she remained an employee of the company, given a child-sized desk next to Saxton's desk. 7 years later, Saxton Hale remained sulking in his office, devoid of purpose, and forgot that Olivia still worked at the company, where she’s drinking alcohol despite being only 14. Additionally, Saxton had somehow become Olivia's legal guardian, and allowed her to drink from "the little airplane bottles" despite the protests of the much more responsible Mr. Bidwell (who was apparently re-hired). She revealed that she had never even wanted to be part of Gray’s plan, expressing her anger for the monotony of working at Mann Co. Specifically, she insulted Hale's trophies, noting that they were all from victories long gone and there was nowhere to even put a new one.
Hearing this, Saxton decides to fire Olivia so she can be free to go down her own path, telling her to make her own trophies. Olivia responds by happily hugging Saxton and leaving the premises, inspired to forge her own path. As Saxton proudly watched her exit, Bidwell pointed out that Saxton was still her guardian, and it's illegal to let a minor go off on their own like that. Saxton thus asked Bidwell to set up a trust fund for Olivia and keep an eye on her, thus ensuring that Olivia could do whatever she wanted with her life while still ensuring the law doesn't pursue him.
Although her biological relationship to Gray Mann is dubious, she is the last (known) Mann standing.
Appearance[]
Olivia is a small child who wears a green dress and bow and has black hair.
As a teenager, her hair is now tied into a messy bun, and she wears a white t-shirt, a green jacket, jeans, and white sneakers.
Personality[]
She is a very formal, intelligent child and is intent on helping her father Gray Mann. However, due to her age, she is also rather bossy as well.
At age 14, Olivia had become more rebellious and cynical, dressing casually and carelessly drinking alcohol despite being underage, commonly bickering with Mr. Bidwell. She hated the monotony and apparent pointlessness of remaining at Mann Co, and was elated at the opportunity to make her own future, becoming more hopeful.
Trivia[]
- Olivia is the only major member of the Mann family to not appear or be referenced in the main game.
- Similarly to her uncles and father, Olivia is named after a colour, hers in this case being olive. This is referenced in how all her clothing comes in shades of green.
