Man of Medan[]

While on a speedboat with his little brother Junior and partner in crime Danny. Olson comes across Conrad and Fliss, Olson almost crashes into their boat. After evading a deadly collision. Conrad starts taunting the fishermen by throwing money in the water. causing the three pirates to go away.

Later during the night, Olson and his crew sneak on the Duke of Milan. Olson ambushes Fliss and locks the group in the bedroom cabin and take them hostage. Olson sits at the helm and takes Fliss and threatens her to cooperate when Conrad starts to intercede on her behalf. Olson begins to beat Conrad, Conrad takes the beating helplessly because he would be killed if he fought back. After this he calms down and Fliss talks to Olson. When Conrad makes an attempt to escape, Olson plays a role on the players rebellion. Conrad can either escape or attack Olson's crew depending on the choices of the player. Regardless of the escape outcome, the protagonists are taken hostage again (if Conrad escapes then he will not make an appearance until the end of game.) Danny finds a document about the Manchurian Gold and gives it to Olson, when a storm starts to brew, Olson forces Fliss to ask the duration of the storm. Since the storm will last the night, Olson and his crew take the protagonists to the SS Ourang Medan and have them bunker down there. This is where the game takes place.

Under the impression that the gold is on the ship. Olson and his crew take the protagonists with them. They lock them into a room and discuss how to find the gold. After this Danny and Olson inspect the cargo hold, the protagonists manage to escape. Olson takes a sledgehammer with him and goes to look for them, he finds Alex and Julia in Cargo Hold 2 and breaks the bridge with the hammer so they can't escape. This causes them to fall into the water, as Alex and Julia escape Olson chases them. Depending the on player's actions, Olson can actually kill Alex. Leaving Julia alone.

As two protagonists go deeper into the ship to search for a generator to get the radio to work. Olson is spotted interrogating Danny about the gold. Danny denies having seen the gold or stays in a catatonic state (depending on if Alex drowned Danny or not.) Either way Olson stabs Danny in the stomach and spots the two protagonists and starts to chase them. But he loses sight, next Olson can be seen running on the balcony making it toward Cargo Bay 2. This is where he can encounter either protagonist and engage in a fight with them. If it's a male protagonist (Alex, Brad, or Conrad) then they will fight hand to hand. If it's a female protagonist (Fliss or Julia) then it won't really be a fight, Olson will try and grab them and restrain them. Olson can succeed in killing his opponent. He can escape but dies of a heart attack either way. If Olson doesn't defeat his opponent, he will be split in half by the cargo door before he can escape and die.

If Alex is left in the radio room, Olson will wander around the lower deck and encounter the protagonists, he will start running away from them and die of a heart attack.

Personality[]

Olson is very demanding and aggressive. After taking the Duke of Milan, he calls himself the captain of the ship. He demands total obedience from his captives. Olson is a very violent man and is waiting for a reason to hurt the protagonists, he will be abusive and threaten to kill them if they disobey him. Olson can be merciful at times, saving Fliss when she is about to fall off the boat.

Olson is greedy and is obsessed with wealth, once he finds out about the gold. He treats the protagonists like prisoners. As he tries to find the treasure, he becomes more and more paranoid and greedy. Later once he starts to see hallucinations, he starts to have panic attacks and truly thinks the ship he's on is haunted. Olson feels power over the protagonists and is more prone to violence when he is around them. He will always try to deliberately kill them.
