Omar Martel is a minor antagonist in the Chicago PD episode "Prison Ball"
Background[]
Omar was detained in prison along with arms dealer Devon Tucker, being cellmates. Omar led a gang of thieves who robbed and killed dealers for fun, later all his recruits would be killed or arrested. However, he managed to escape those fates and became a hired murderer
Eventually, James Grant, Devon Tucker's nephew, would begin to be prosecuted for an armed robbery in a store. The only witness to the crime was a 10-year-old girl, Maya Watkins. James then told his uncle about his situation, before he hires Omar to kill Maya. Devon being in charge of paying him. Omar rented a car in a warehouse, paying extra for it, with the car he goes to a place where Maya Watkins was, shooting her without any remorse and then fleeing the scene. He later returned the car to the warehouse and then take refuge in his girlfriend's house.
Prison Ball[]
The manager of the warehouse where Martel rented the car ended up ratting him out, allowing him to be identified. The CPD went to his house, entering by force, where they found Martel in one of the rooms. Det. Jay Halstead approached him from behind, Martel notices and tries to stab Halstead, who defends himself and with the help of Erin Lindsay, knocks him down. Sgt. Hank Voight approaches Martel, and while stepping on his ribs asks him if he felt remorse shooting a 10-year-old girl, Voight mentions that Martel only had one choice, but Alvin Olinsky interrupts and warns that Antonio Dawson wanted to contact Voight. Intelligence subsequently force Martel to his feet and take him away.
He would later be charged with the murder of Maya Watkins.
