~ Omega Group's Motto.

Omega Group are the main antagonists of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War's Zombies mode. They appear in Die Maschine, Firebase Z, Outbreak, Mauer Der Toten & Forsaken. Omega Group is Led by Colonel Lev Kravchenko, and was a covert KGB/Spetsnaz backed research and military organization that sought to harness the otherworldly phenomena and remedies of the Dark Aether first uncovered at Projekt Endstation to combat their NATO adversaries. While this remained Omega Group's primary objective, the group later sought to impede The Forsaken, the ruler of The Dark Aether, from entering and consuming their world.

Biography[]

Early Life[]

Omega Group was formed on August 30th, 1975 by KGB Chairman Yuri Andropov to identify, study and weaponize psychotronic phenomena, ranging from biocommunications and biocommunications and bioenergetics. Members of the organization were comprised of specialists from Spetsgruppas Alpha, Vympel and Smerch, and were tasked with conducting special military based operations, through a select amount of key personnel derived from previous experiences in other experimental research programs were tasked with investigating possible weapon applications from any exoscientific phenomena discovered. While Omega Group's area of operations stem across the world, details of their missions were left covert, so much that both the Soviet people and the rest of the outside world were ignorant of the group's existence and intentions. Omega Group never managed to find a scientific explanation for psychotronic abilities, but still conscripted a handful of Russian citizens with genius talents and turned them into intelligence assets. Their gifts, however, were impossible to reproduce and all of the assets were either killed or suffered psychological breakdowns. Omega Group has many conflicts like Ho Chi Minh City with satellite states, Soviet Embassy and Washington, D.C., and other events during the 1970s to 1980s. However after Leonid Brezhnev died in November 1982, Omega Group has a new KGB Chairman named Viktor Chebrikov and assigned Colonel Lev Kravchenko and Gorev and later used NKVD and KGB archives to recruit and reassign members like William Peck, Hugo Jager, Aleksandra Valentina, Dimitri Kukhklay, and many members for research and military applications.

Operation Undertaker[]

After several months, Omega Group discovered an abandoned German facility at Morasko, Poland since 1945. The films were recorded since World War II. Peck and Valentina discovered Projekt Endstation and examined the abandoned German Technology throughout the facility and discussed about The Soviets deactivated the Cyclotron and the Gateway to the Dark Aether. However, Kravchenko sent Omega Group Operatives to the Endstation Facility to reactivate the Cyclotron of the Particle Accelerator. On November 1st, Omega Group Operatives Orlov and Medvedov were tasked to restart the cyclotron, and although the two would perish the attempt, Orlov was successful, which resulted in the creation of a new rift to the Dark Aether. However, unlike what happened during World War II where only a localized rift was opened, addition dimensional breaches were called Outbreak Zones, started to appear around the world: The Rainforest near the Orinoco in Venezuela, Remote desert In Namibia, Vietnam, Baku, Soviet Republic of Azerbaijan, and the Ural Mountains.

Outpost 25[]

After the destruction of the Endstation Facility By Requiem at Morsako, Poland, Omega Group started Aetherium Research and Chebrikov formed a pact with Vietnamese Chairman Pham Van Dong to create an Omega Facility Called Outpost 25. The former site of Firebase Ripcord in the A Shau Valley. afterwards, Omega Group later created Operatsiya Inversiya on November 11th. However, Peck, Valentina and Kukhklay later create weapons, Portal Chamber, Aether Reactor, RAI K-84, Aether Canisters, Krasny Soldats, and others. Kravchenko orders Jager to do Necro-Analytics. Omega Group Teams in the Dark Aether later suffered heavy losses, Kravchenko conscripted Aetherium Miners known as Aethernauts, The Request was approved. In March 1984, Outpost 25 has prisoners and added common criminals, political dissidents, foreign prisoners and Intellectuals from Vietnam and the Soviet Union. As more Aethernauts get sent to The Dark Aether, The Collection of Aetherium Crystals was up to 237% and were still dangerous and mildly radioactive. However, The Aethernauts were still in The Dark Aether and never came back. Peck developed a memory transference machine and restore the fracture minds of their conscripts and create a truth serum and recover memories. Peck and Kukhklay discuss about Private Glaskov who went missing in the Dark Aether and transformed into a Mimic. However, Peck, Kukhklay and Valentina discuss about Operatsiya Inversiya and later marked the targets like Washington, D.C., New York as approved. In June 15, Gorev and Peck noticed that Samantha Maxis wished to exposed Omega Group and greet a mole named Sergei Ravenov from Outpost 25 and supplied CIA intel from Projekt Endstation from the Office of Requiem to Stop Omega Group in this new arms race. However, Peck captured and interrogated Maxis about the mole and Peck thrower Maxis into the Dark Aether. Grigori Weaver and the Requiem Staff ordered the Requiem Strike Team to meet up with Ravenov and reactivated the facility, unwittingly assisted Peck by transmitting all of his research from Outpost 25 to Omega HQ. The team was successfully bringing back Samantha Maxis from the Dark Aether, and then had to fight and Orda before exfiltrating. While Samantha Maxis joined Requiem, Ravenov rejoined Omega Group and warned the team of an Operation in the Ural Mountains. By the time Requiem left Outpost 25, Omega Group Operatives led by Kravchenko and Valentina arrived to extract Peck and test to prove his commitments to Omega and a punishment for letting Outpost 25 fall, Kravchenko pulls out one of Peck's eyes.

The Ural Mountains[]

Following the fall of Outpost 25, Omega Group shifted to the Ural Mountains, the site of the world's largest Outbreak Zone that has been loosely contained since the activation of the cyclotron. On July, Kravchenko ordered and assigned Peck to the Ural Mountains to assess the applications of the Aetherium Crystals present at the site under the direct supervision of Gorev. However, Peck deduced that the Ruka site and the Tempests present around the zones would allow Omega Group to advanced Operatsiya Inversiya and develop the warheads needed for it. Sometime later, Peck created the Reality Inversion Warheads which could generate dimensional breaches up to 500 meters and 800 kilometers and used each Tempests infused with the missiles. Peck marked the targets for Operatsiya Inversiya is the West. Sometime later, Kravchenko ordered Valentina to create Beacon Communications Receiver for the Outbreak Zones to Travel. Over the next few months later, Omega Group began to learn of higher otherworldly entities in The Dark Aether and later Gorev and Peck ordered his men to examine a destroyed Krasny Soldat, Serveral days later an Omega Mole embedded in Requiem's Senior Staff confirmed the existence of The Forsaken, a singular entity ruling in the Dark Aether and travels to a reality. Peck detailed some of the bizarre zones and found a strange computer emitting a voice he would talk to, asking it questions regarding the Dark Aether. With Operatsiya Inversiya under his command, Kravchenko sought to use it to counter The Forsaken and prevent him and his forces from entering the world. On November 16th, Omega Group's plans with Operatsiya Inversiya would be severely derailed, Ravenov, who managed to rejoin Omega Group's ranks without being outed as the traitor, informing Maxis of the great threat Operatsiya Inversiya posed through forged intel leaked to him disscreetly by Valentina. To ensure the plan never succeeded, Maxis made secret contact with the Requiem Strike Team fighting in the Ural Mountains, convincing them to briefly go behind Requiem's back to meet with Ravenov at the Ruka silos and assist him with the destruction of Operatsiya Inversiya, oblivious to Kravchenko's new objective with the operation. Once the strike team made contact with Ravenov, they retargeted the launch of the warheads by sending them to the Pacific Ocean to ensure neither Requiem nor Omega Group possessed such weapons of mass destruction. With the fallout of Operatsiya Inversiya, dissent and division bloomed within Omega Group's ranks, some worried of the current situation and the reaction of the KGB, while some planned on defecting to Requiem with Ravenov's assistance, who was now disavowed and marked as an enemy of the state by the KGB for his betrayal. Sometime later, Omega Group attempted to salvage the Inversion Warheads from the ocean, to no avail. On December 14th, Kravchenko ordered Jager to go Undercover with the defectors and kill them all for their betrayal while setting up a trap for the Requiem Strike Team, later on, Jager succeeded in his mission, leading to the deaths of all of the defectors and preventing them Requiem from securing valuable intel regarding the Aetherium Neutralizer. Additionally, Requiem Strike Team would be captured by Kravchenko and his Omega Group Operatives at the monument of Sanatorium.

Berlin[]

In the weeks following the capture of the Requiem Strike Team and their pilot Raptor One, Omega Group began directing its focus combating on The Forsaken before it could ever enter their reality. Sometime Later, Peck with assistance from Zykov, created the LT53 Kazimir, a tactical device that can suck enemies into the Dark Aether, Gorev uses the blueprints to create and rebraund new weapons. At the Potsdam Facility, Requiem Strike Team and their pilot Raptor One are interrogated and brutally tortured by Kravchenko and Gorev, and Raptor One refused to give in and reveal them any vital intelligence. In 1985, Valentina finally broke away from Omega Group revealing herself to be Angelika Hannabelle Vogel, the daughter Doctor Ulrich Vogel. Gorev drafted a timeline of Valentina's true early life for Kravchenko. Traveling to Berlin, Valentina ventured to Projekt Endstation's underground facility beneath Checkpoint Charlie and opened another gateway to the Dark Aether, having been manipulated by The Forsaken under the guise of her father, Valentina believed she was finally carrying out Operation Baldr, a secret Nazi plan created by Vogel that utilized the Morsako breach to send soldiers through time via the Dark Aether in order to begin a New Reich in the future, in truth, Valentina was actually allowing The Forsaken to cross over into reality with a massive undead army in tow. In February 2nd, Kravchenko forced the Requiem Strike Team to fight for Omega Group during the mission to defeat Valentina while using Raptor One as a leverage. During the mission, the Requiem Strike Team activated the Power, rebuilt Klaus, created a miniature version of an inversion warhead and planned to use it to seal the breach from within. After battling a Dark Aether Corrupted Valentina, the strike team made use of her new crystalline form to fully power the warhead, destroying her in the process. Klaus proceeded to transport the warhead to The Dark Aether and heard the voice of The Forsaken and the earth would be his by sending his undead zombie army, However, Klaus sacrificed himself to close the breach. Kravchenko released Raptor One as promised, But he betrayed the Requiem Strike Team and attempted to gun them down his helicopter. The Requiem Strike Team are able to escape thanks to the efforts of Samantha Maxis, who used her powers to create a portal for them to escape through. Sometime later, Kravchenko released an official report to Chairman Chebrikov about Valentina and Projekt Endstation's research.

Operatsyia Izbavitel[]

After the Berlin Incident, Omega Group were discussing about defeating the west, stopping The Forsaken and freeing Zykov. Kravchenko, Peck, Gorev and Jager traveled to Test Site Anna, Peck, Jager created the amplifier, the containment chamber, ARC-XD and Aetherium Gun Turrets with Zykov's help. Peck and Kravchenko discussing about collaborating with The Director of Requiem since Outpost 25 and the Ural Mountains and imprisoning The Forsaken. Kravchenko and Gorev discuss about Operatsyia Izbavitel targets, Gorev and Jager prepared to exfiltrate by using Plan B. In June 4th, the Requiem Strike Team entered the site and prepare to recover Zykov. However, Zykov returned and revealed himself as The Forsaken to everyone and spent four Dark Aether centuries and trapped in the realm. In the observatory tower, Kravchenko angrily blamed Peck for his mistrust in Zykov who became The Forsaken. Peck tried to tell Kravchenko he had no idea that Zykov was The Forsaken. Outside, Jager And Gorev exfiltrated and left Test Site Anna and to safety by letting Kravchenko and Peck fail all missions. While Requiem attempted to reach The Forsaken, Kravchenko and Peck fought against zombies in observatory tower, Peck shot a gas line, causing an explosion that scarred Peck's face and Kravchenko's fate unknown. Soon after, Requiem uses the defenses and Aetherium Gun Turrets to destroy The Forsaken, weakening him. with no other choice, Samantha Maxis sacrificed herself to defeat The Forsaken from within, allowing him to be absorbed by Peck's containment chamber, ending the outbreak zones across the world and severing the connection between the universe and the Dark Aether. With the failure of Operatsyia Izbavitzel and Requiem's complete mission of defeating The Forsaken, Omega Group's fate was unknown or defeated.
