Onaan, sometimes spelled Onann, O'nann, or O'naan, is a supporting antagonist in the Image Comics series Invincible.

He was one of Grand Regent Thragg's many sons. He was the loyalest and most vicious member of his father's Thraxan-Viltrumite army.

Biography[]

Early life[]

Onaan was a Viltrumite-Thraxan hybrid born among many of his siblings from Thragg forcibly breeding upon all of the females that inhabited the planet Thraxa. 5 years later, Onann and his siblings have reached adolescence and in the name of Thragg, they were rebuilding the ranks of the Viltrum Empire.

Invincible #129[]

He and his twin sister Ursaal conquer an unnamed planet. Onann mercilessly massacred the inhabitants despite them surrendering until Ursaal attempted to stop him. Onaan argued that he was executing their father's orders conquering and instilling terror among the population. After Ursaal shared her take, Thragg intervened and halted their argument. On that same planet, Onaan possessed a cave located on the periphery of the city, where he would abduct civilians and subject them to fatal torture, and subsequently recline among their remains.

Invincible #130[]

While Thragg is killing ragnarrs, he summons Onaan and Ursaal and assigned them to kill Mark Grayson, a.k.a Invincible.

Invincible #131/132[]

Onaan suddenly descended swiftly and initially obliterated Mark's daughter Terra Grayson's educational device nicknamed Eddy before lifting her from the ground. Onaan remarked on the little girl's feistiness while he planned to brutally kill her. However, he lost his grip on her after Mark delivered an uppercut. After a brief struggle with Mark, Onaan was sent crashing to the ground after the former delivered a punch to his head. Onaan recovered, and he, along with Ursaal, soared through the skies towards the family. They collided with one another after Mark quickly flew to the sky. Onaan subsequently pursued Mark and Terra; however, as he accelerated, Mark realized he needed to match his speed, even though Terra was in pain. Mark halted in mid-air to allow Terra a moment to catch her breath. However, Onaan quickly caught up and shoved Mark, resulting in him losing his hold on his daughter. Mark executed three simultaneous strikes to Onaan's face while grabbing Terra by one ankle following the second blow, subsequently continuing their flight. Onaan managed to catch up, prompting Mark to comment that he was nearly as fast as he was. Onaan grabbed Mark by the leg, causing him to lose his hold on Terra. Mark delivered a kick to his face before regaining his grip on Terra. Onaan made savage threats directed at Mark's daughter before being punched in the face. Onaan fought back by delivering an elbow strike to Mark, causing him to release his grip on his daughter once again. Onaan held Terra, poised to end her life. As Mark endeavored to get his daughter, Onaan threw her aside, leading to her imminent demise. Mark attempted to rescue her; however, the young and merciless Viltrumite-Thraxan seized him by the legs, leading to a brawl between them. Onaan, having sustained an injury to his eye resulting in a black eye, resolved to spare Mark's life so that he could take responsibility for cleaning the remains of his deceased daughter.

In a brawl, the two fighters engaged in a series of strikes. Mark inflicted a bite on Onaan's wrist, prompting Onaan to fight back by striking Mark on the head. Subsequently, Onaan attempted to pull Mark back, resulting in the tearing of Mark's shirt. However, during this struggle, Mark delivered a backhand strike to Onaan's already swollen right eye, which caused it to bleed and rendered him incapacitated. After Thragg captured Terra, following her witnessing the death of her uncle Oliver Grayson, Mark presented the injured and restrained Onaan to his father, imploring him not to take his daughter's life. Following a statement from Thragg about traitors, Mark killed Onaan by either snapping his neck or applying such force that his head was dislodged, after which Mark hurled his headless corpse at Thragg.

Invincible #134[]

His sister Ursaal sat in his cave to grieve his death. She also admitted that he was a monster, but she still loved him regardless. Thragg apologized for the occurrence; however, Ursaal perceived his apology as insincere, believing that Thragg had allowed it to transpire. Ultimately, Ursaal concluded that Thragg held no genuine concern for his children, viewing them merely as soldiers and instruments for his own ambition. Thragg refutes this and informs her that both she and Onaan held significant importance in his life as he hesitantly attempts to console her, assuring her that they will seek retribution for her brother.

End of All Things[]

If Onaan had been alive to witness Thragg eliminate his siblings by projecting them at Invincible, it is highly probable that he, like his sister, would have altered his vicious behavior or regarded them as his father did: weak and useless, despite Thragg's similar perception of all his offspring, including him.
