William B. Pordobel, more commonly known as One-Eyed Willy, is the overarching antagonist of the 1985 Warner Bros. adventure film The Goonies.
He was the infamous pirate captain of the ship, the Inferno, which held the treasure that the titular Goonies had set out to search for.
Biography[]
One-Eyed Willy received his nickname because he literally didn't have a left eye, having tons of treasure on his ship, the Inferno, such as rubies, emeralds, diamonds and gold. He and his crew loaded it all onto the ship and sailed away into the sunset. But when the British King found out about it, he set up a huge armada to go after One-Eyed Willy, which took them only a couple of weeks. As they caught up with Willy, there was a massive battle between the Inferno and the armada, and during the fight there were guns and cannons bursting everywhere. Then One-Eyed Willy fled, because he couldn't take any more fighting. He got in a giant cave, and the British blew the walls all around him, his ship and his crew, and they got caved in. In other words, they've been trapped ever since 1632. However, One-Eyed Willy had set up booby traps all over the cave and the tunnels that leads to his trapped ship, so that anybody, who tried to get in and steal his treasure, would perish.
After that, he killed all of his own crewmembers, because he did not want any of them get to his treasure. He then made a map to lead to his ship full of treasure. He even made an ancient organ out of skeletons and bones and put booby traps on it as well. It is unknown how the story of him or his map got out of his site, but Mikey states that one of his men must've gotten out of the cave with the map. He's been in the cave so long, he slowly died.
