The Oni Predator[1] is a major antagonist in the 2025 Hulu film, Predator: Killer of Killers. He was a Yautja that came down to Earth in 1629 where he observed the brothers Kenji and Kiyoshi clash with one another, before coming in conflict with themselves.
Appearance[]
Oni Predator was a tall and lean Yautja clad in sleek body armour. He displayed a distinctive feature which indicated him belonged to a distinct subspecies of his race; possessing only lower mandibles which appear tusk-like and horn-like quills around his eyes and forehead.
Personality[]
Like mainstream Yautjas who adhered Yautja Honour Code, as he took his time observing Kenji's progress in infiltrating the castle that used to be the shinobi and his twin brother Kiyoshi's home and taking notes of what they capable of with the intention of facing the one who emerged victorious. Rather than seeking the opportunity to deliver cheap shots like dishonorable Yautjas did, Oni Predator chose to occasionally activate his cloak while duelling Kenji and later Kiyoshi because of the former's shinobi training allowing him to be as stealthy as as their Yautja opponent as well as astute enough to spot him even while being invisible.
Biography[]
Predator: Killer of Killers[]
In 1609, Oni Predator traveled to Earth during Japan's Feudal Era. There, he infiltrated the castle belonged to House of Kawakami, observing its inhabitants' activities in a bid to identify which one of them being a worthy opponent for him to face in his Hunt as night fell. At the time, Kiyoshi held the funeral for his late father and predecessor as the rule of the land they ruled together. However, the one who caught Oni Predator's attention most was Kenji, Kiyoshi's estranged twin brother who discreetly returned home.
Kiyoshi and Kenji were sons of two samurai warlord who used to be close until the time had come for them to compete in a duel to decide who would succeed their father. Out of two brothers, Kenji wasn't keen of participating in what could be a duel to the death. However, the same cannot be said to Kiyoshi who more eager to get through it, even managed to best the former through his unexpected display of ruthlessness. So, the emotionally hurt Kenji fled and subsequently spent his next years of exile partaking shinobi training.
In the present, Oni Predator watched Kenji's progress in infiltrating his former home, from using a hollowed tree log to catch one of guards by surprise to finally face Kiyoshi himself. Although the ninja proved himself qualified to be a worthy prey and opponent in the Yautja's eyes despite a minor setback (he failed to prevent the guards from alarmed everyone via. striking a bell on the second bell tower), Oni Predator maintained his cover because of Kenji's ultimate test; a rematch against his twin brother. In the ensuing duel, Kiyoshi's ingenuity (he put their father's armor on in the middle of the fight) and swordsmanship skill allowed him to match Kenji's prowess as a ninja, even though the latter managed to send him plummeting into the castle's moat below.
Kiyoshi's seemed defeat served as the cue for Oni Predator to reveal himself before Kenji. Neither the ninja nor Kiyoshi's guards were prepared against such unexpected interloper. Before Kenji's horrified eyes while maintaining his cover, the Yautja soundly cut down the guards with his wrist blades, clawed grappling hook which doubled as deadly flail, and combistick with retractable blades capable of slicing even armoured humans in half. As if the quick slaughter was already shocking for Kenji, Oni Predator activated his cloak and even noticed him despite being hidden in shadows. During the chase throughout the castle's hallways and rooftop, the Yautja not only cut down the guards who faced him in combat while chasing the ninja, but also discovered how astute his opponent could be (Kenji successfully stabbed the Yautja at the foot at one point despite the latter was nearly invisible and later, briefly exposed him with a smoke bomb before throwing two of his kunais to disorient him).
As dawn arrived, Oni Predator caught up with Kenji just as the latter warned Kiyoshi — who revealed to survived the fall yet oblivious to chaos in the castle — about the unexpected interloper. Ambushing the brothers, the Yautja managed to stab Kiyoshi in the gut but failed to inflict worse damage because of the latter's partial success in blocking the incoming wrist-blade blow. Oni Predator's duel against Kenji escalated not just because of Kiyoshi joining the fray, but also Kenji both knocked his Bio-Mask off his face and figured out how his hunting gear worked and used the knowledge against him. Most notably, Kenji attached the Yautja's scattered mines on the clawed end of his grappling hook, blowing up both the equipment and the arm attached to it.
Once Oni Predator was no longer on sight, it appeared Kenji and Kiyoshi decided to settle their feud once and for all. However, after seemingly delivering a fatal blow against one another, their katanas drenched with nothing but green blood; as it turned out, the Yautja was still there, rendering himself invisible to gather up his bearings to no avail since the brothers knew better the unexpected interloper won't go down that easily.
Now that their unexpected adversary properly dealt with, Kenji and Kiyoshi made amends by spending the remainder of the morning watching the sun rising. To Kenji's grief and sadness, it would also the last time they spent their time together like in old times, as Kiyoshi finally succumbed to his wounds.
The recording of Oni Predator's last hunt would be reviewed by his brethren back in Yautja Prime, and reached Grendel King who then ordered Kenji's capture.
