The Orb's minions are minor antagonists in the Animation vs. Minecraft Shorts, serving as major antagonists in the Season 2 finale "Lucky Blocks" and the secondary antagonists of the Season 4 episode "Lucky Block Staff".
They are various minions spawned by the Orb to assist it in killing the Stick Gang.
History[]
"Lucky Blocks"[]
Once the Orb hijacks Yellow's body and decides to spread chaos, it spawns numerous mobs to help it. After launching several mobs which explode on impact, it sends a bunch of Withers after them. After they are killed, the Orb focused on creating clones of itself that hijack the Stick Gang's body. It's not until their final match against Red that the Orb decides to spawn more minions, all of which die to Red. When he spawns a pig at the last second before being possessed, the Orb starts spawning more minions in an attempt to kill it, ending it off with an army of skeletons. However, not even that is enough to stop the pig, who ends up defeating the Orb and sending it back to the Lucky Dimension, thus erasing its minions and clones.
"Lucky Block Staff"[]
Upon possessing Yellow's staff and taking the fight to the Lucky Dimension, the Orb starts spawning minions to serve as its protectors, including special, staff-wielding ones. As the Stick Gang climbs the Orb's tower in order to reach it, they face more opponents, each more deadly then the last. It reaches a point where there the "normal" opponents end and they just face staff-wielder immediately after another staff-wielder, including threats such as a gigantic bee which can summon bees; a flying axolotl that can shoot lightning; a bear that has a spider's cobwebs; and a cow which can create portals. The final of the Orb's minions ends up being a literal sentient boat, which nevertheless proves to be a strong opponent due to its emerald-staff, with the whole Stick Gang being tired after finally killing it. After this moment no more minions appear, and the gang faces the Orb itself.
Notable Members[]
Every staff-wielding minion seen during "Lucky Block Staff".
- Netherrack-Staff Zombified Piglin: A Zombified Piglin whose staff can quickly spawn netherrack in various shapes. Was killed by Red shortly after it was encountered, and the stick figure used its staff for himself.
- Second Zombified Piglin: Another Zombified Piglin that doesn't fight the Stick Gang, simply watching as they ascend the tower.
- Bookshelf-Staff Iron Golem: The first staff-wielder spawned by the Orb, he's an iron golem whose staff can spawn books in rapid succession, using it to attack the Stick Gang with books. Due to his rather weak staff, Green quickly killed him with his Note Block Staff before Blue repurposed it, replacing the bookshelf with a better block.
- Dripstone-Staff Zombie: A Zombie whose staff could spawn pointed dripstone, which more or less served as spikes to impale things on while also being a shootable objectile. Was killed by the Second Coming, who then stole the staff for himself.
- Unknown Leaf-Staff Wielder: An unseen opponent who wielded a leaf block-staff, having been killed off-screen by Yellow. It's unknown what their staff could do, as Red replaced the leaf block with TNT before using it.
- Unknown Grindstone-Staff Wielder: An unseen opponent who wielded a grindstone staff, having been killed off-screen by Yellow. Their staff essentially served as a saw, as proven when the Stick Gang started using it for themselves later.
- Queen Bee: A gigantic bee with a crown who wielded a Beehive Staff, allowing it to summon bees that would attack her opponents. Was burnt alive by the Stick Gang's Giant Ghast, with Red stealing her staff and using it to lure all the bees - including the bee-creeper hybrid Beeper - inside it. She would ultimately prove to be crucial to defeating the Orb, as Red later sicced the bees onto it, resulting in Beeper exploding and defeating the Orb.
- Campfire-Staff Shulker: A shulker whose staff could launch massive amounts of fire. Was frozen in ice by Yellow before Green used the Grindstone Staff to shred it to pieces. Yellow would use the staff following its death.
- Lightning Rod-Staff Axolotl: A flying axolotl whose staff could summon lightning. Was one-shot by Red once it accidentally hit his Steve Head Staff, thus transforming it into a Herobrine Head Staff, which allowed Red to fly, teleport and shoot exploding Herobrine heads. The axolotl's own staff would be stolen and used by Blue.
- Anvil-Staff Villager: A Villager in a cauldron whose anvil staff was just too heavy for him to pick it up, allowing Blue to easily kill him and destroy his staff. An obvious reference to Getting Over It with Bennet Foddy, where the titular character is a naked man in a cauldron who climbs a mountain using a hammer.
- Spider-Bear: A polar bear whose Cobweb Staff allowed it to launch webs and swing around. Was cooked alive by Green, who promptly stole its staff and used it similarly to how he uses fishing rods throughout the series.
- Staff-Wielding Wither Skeleton: A Wither Skeleton who was killed by Yellow too early for him to show off any powers. Staff would be stolen by the Second Coming, who would turn it into a Bell Staff, while the skeleton's severed head would be used by Yellow for a Wither Skeleton Head Staff, which spawned the Wither's flying heads.
- Portal Cow: A cow whose End Portal Frame Staff allowed it to make portals and teleport. Was not killed, simply being teleported into space by Green once he stole its staff. The cow's staff was used by Red to throw the beehive staff towards the Orb, thus making it partially responsible for its master's defeat. A reference to the Spot from the Spider-Verse movies.
- The Boat: A sentient boat whose Emerald Staff could reflect any attacks thrown at it, thus posing a huge challenge for the entire Stick Gang at once, though it was eventually beaten once the Second Coming punched away its staff before the whole team beat it to death, it going into Blue's inventory but never being used. Its staff was not stolen by anyone, simply falling off the Giant Ghast's head and plummeting to the abyss below.
Every staff that made it to the Stick Gang's fight with the Orb was stolen by it, excluding the End Portal Frame Staff, allowing Red to use it to defeat the Orb. Even then, none of them survived the fight, as they ended up despawning following the Orb's defeat and presumed demise.
Trivia[]
- Neither the Portal Cow nor second Zombified Piglin have been killed on-screen. Assuming they didn't despawn once the Orb was separated from the Lucky Block Staff, it's possible that either the cow suffocated while the piglin died when the tower started collapsing, or that they're both alive (although the cow would have poor living conditions while the piglin would lose their staff).
- Likewise, it's unknown what happened to the Wither Skeleton's head nor the Boat's remains, as Yellow put the former into his inventory while the latter flew into Blue's inventory as a drop following its death. It's likely that they despawned due to being creations of the Orb-haunted Lucky Block Staff, although nothing is confirmed.
