The Orb is a supporting antagonist in the AvM Shorts, serving as the main antagonist of the Season 2 finale "Lucky Blocks" and the Season 4 episode "Lucky Block Staff".
It's an orb ruling over the dimension inside the Lucky Blocks, which came to life through possessing Yellow's body and seeks to spread chaos throughout the computer, possessing the other stick figures and creating clones of itself to do so. Years later, the Orb returns by hijacking the Lucky Block Staff and attempts to get revenge on the Stick Gang.
Biography[]
"Lucky Blocks"[]
When the Stick Gang plays with Lucky Blocks and accidentally gets an extremely powerful Zombie, Yellow tries tampering with his block. He discovers the entry to another dimension, where the Orb is creating everything in the dimension. He takes it and escapes with it to the computer, where he uses it to help his friends. Suddenly, the Orb stops spawning things and fires straight at Yellow's head. After laying down unconscious for a minute, the Orb-possessed Yellow gets up and starts attacking the other stick figures. At the same time, Yellow's spirit re-enters the Lucky Block Dimension, where it hijacks one of the ghost-blocks that decides which item/mob will be spawned next. He uses it to spawn items that would help his friends.
During the fight, the Orb grabs Blue and makes another Orb to control him. The Orb duo then attack the remaining stick figures, with Orb-Blue hijacking the Second Coming and the original Orb makes a new Orb to possess Green. The four Orbs then corner Red. However, the spirits of the stick figures create items and equipment for him. Red faces off against the Orbs alone, and despite putting up a good fight, he's defeated when Orb-Blue disarms him and the first Orb starts possessing him. Before being fully possessed, Red spawns a pig which is then massively upgraded by the Stick Gang. The pig attacks the Yellow-haunted Orb, who tries to run away while being defended by its creations. This turns out in vain, as the pig charges at it, sending the Orb flying out of Yellow's head and into the Lucky Block Dimension, losing its sapience and turning things back to normal, with the other Orbs dying.
"Lucky Block Staff"[]
Three years later, Red puts a Lucky Block on the magic staff the Stick Gang gained during the events of Season 3, resulting in being able to spawn Lucky Blocks. He eventually manages to hijack one of the ghost-blocks Yellow used to help his friends in Season 2, being able to spawn practically everything. When Red goes to check up on his new pet, the Bee-Creeper hybrid Beeper, who keeps almost exploding, the Orb - now fully sentient, somehow - sees the glitched out ghost-block Red hijacked. It manages to slowly guide it towards itself, before the ghost-block finally chooses the Orb as the item that will be selected next.
Red comes towards the staff again, and sees it's not working. Upon trying a few times, the Orb awakens, having hijacked the staff. It constructs a monstrous body for itself and, afraid yet vengeful towards the Stick Gang, tries to kill him. Thankfully, Red is saved by Green, and other stick figures come to the rescue until Yellow uses his command block to imprison the Orb's host inside indestructible barrier blocks. As the Stick Gang begins shaming Red for playing with Lucky Blocks despite being told not to, the Orb opens the Lucky Block inside the staff and begins sucking everything and everyone into the Lucky Dimension, not even the barrier blocks being enough to stop it.
Once inside, the Orb returns to the monument where it lives, and builds a gigantic skyscraper tower, challenging the Stick Gang (and Beeper) to come to the very top if they want to get out and defeat it. Meanwhile, the Orb begins spawning minions in form of skilled and sentient mobs that are given staffs of their own. In a scene very reminiscent of them finding and fighting the Herobrine-possessed Red in their original Minecraft adventure, the heroes enter the tower and encounter a Zombified Piglin serving under the Orb. Red attacks and kills it, taking its staff and putting a Spawner inside it. He uses it to make a gigantic Ghast, before passing it over to Green. The Stick Gang keep fighting the onslaught of mobs and taking their staffs, until they reach the top of the tower and everyone has two; during the battle, Red puts several dozen bees, including Beeper, inside a beehive.
At the top of the tower, the Orb has finished making its final form: it, surrounded by a gigantic wheel with dozens of spinning staffs surrounding it. Using the staffs they have, the Stick Gang engages the Orb in a final showdown, but it eventually manages to defeat them all, one by one, by stealing their staffs and trapping them inside bedrock prisons; Red the sole exception, having been saved by Yellow and instead only put in cobwebs. Realising he has no other choice left, he pulls out the beehive and a fishing rod. He uses the latter to pull an End Portal Staff alongside it, and uses it to make several portals that begin destroying the Orb's wheel-shield. He then throws the beehive through one of the portals, resulting in it landing inside the wheel, next to the staff. The staff begins to be attacked by the bees until Beeper comes out and, after receiving confirmation from Red, sacrifices its life by exploding. The staff, Lucky Block and Orb are send flying into different directions, and the entire tower begins collapsing due to the strength of the explosion. The Stick Gang, freed from their prisons, grabs their original staff before using the Lucky Block to escape the Lucky Dimension.
In the real world, Red builds a grave for Beeper before being put in time-out by the Stick Gang for his actions. The fate of the Orb remains unknown as it was last seen flying away, but it's clear it won't bother the Stick Gang again.
Appearance[]
The Orb is a glowing, yellowish white orb. Upon its return in Season 4, it became much more yellow and was glowing stronger.
The "host" form the Orb takes upon possessing the staff is a weird, liquid-like blob of constantly changing blocks, never maintaining one stable shape. It can be shapeshifted into looking like anything, including a giant hammer. Upon its final battle with the Stick Gang, the Orb puts its staff-vessel inside a giant wheel of constantly-shifting blocks, which serve as a shield. It has also surrounded the wheel with dozens of staffs which contain various blocks, thus having weapons to protect itself with.
Personality[]
Although usually a mindless force of chaos, when it gets to possess someone, the Orb shows itself to be a destructive creature who sadistically takes pride in what its doing, is a show-off who flaunts their skills, and is ready to fight opponents. However, when faced against the pig, it also shows a cowardly side by running away and leaving the other Orbs to do its work for it.
After its return, the Orb once again shows to be cowardly by refusing to directly fight the Stick Gang a second time, yet vengeful towards them for its initial defeat. Due to not having a humanoid body to properly express emotions with, the Orb's behavior seems much more animalistic then in its previous appearance.

Trivia[]
- The Orb shares similarities to the Witch, as both were dangerous villains who came extremely close to killing the Stick Gang, in some way influenced their bodies (The Witch transformed them/the Orb hijacked them with its clones), and were ultimately defeated by a superpowered pig. Fittingly enough, the Orb is the final threat of Season 2 while the Witch is fought at the beginning of Season 3. Additionally, both were one-shot characters before returning several episodes later, although the Witch only returns as a cameo character while the Orb gets to have another around as the main antagonist.
- The Orb is often referred to as the Lucky Block itself; similarly, it's often called simply the Lucky Block Staff in its second vessel.
