Orell Peattie is the secondary antagonist of the X-Files episode "Theef", and is one of the show's many Monsters of The Week - as such he is not connected to the larger series mythos of alien invasion or government conspiracy but is instead a stand-alone threat to the famous FBI duo, Agents Scully and Mulder.
Biography[]
Orell was the father of Lynette Peattie, who suffered a terrible bus accident that left her so pained that Doctor Robert Wieder gave her a lethal dose of morphine to end her suffering.
However this sparked a murderous thirst for revenge by Orell, who was already a practitioner of hexcraft, a form of folk-magic similar to voodoo and focusing on the use of trinkets known as poppets, which Orell planned on using to inflict sadistic torture and pain on the entire Wieder family and anyone else that got in his way.
Powers & Abilities[]
Orell was a practitioner of hexcraft and as such had abilities similar to a voodoo witch-doctor, more specially the evil-aligned version of these mystics, via the use of poppets he could inflict almost any harm he could imagine on his victims.
Trivia[]
- Orell Peattie's backstory and use of magic to inflict torture on victims is similar to the Beggar Man from the episode "Badlaa", who also lost an offspring and sought violent revenge via mysticism - unlike the Beggar Man it is not suggested Orell ever had a holy past, most likely always being part of a darker sect of magic.
