~ The High Evolutionary explaining his plans. |
Orgocorp are the main antagonists of the 2023 Marvel Cinematic Universe film Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, the third and final installment of the Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy.
It is a intergalactic bio-engineering corporation founded by the High Evolutionary to create a perfect species and build their own utopia. The company created various species across the galaxy, including Sovereign, the Xeronians, and the Animen.
Background[]
Over hundreds of years, the High Evolutionary analyzed numerous alien species of the whole galaxy and saw all of them as deeply flawed, deciding to take it upon himself to establish a new society to be perfect.
He created Orgocorp for his bio-engineering projects while presenting himself as a savior and hiding them from the public. The High Evolutionary once visited Earth sometime in the past and deeply admired humanity's culture, but was disappointed by its flaws. Therefore, he used Earth as a blueprint to develop his own planet for his "utopia" and as a base for his conducting of lower life forms.
Using kidnapped animals from Earth, such as rabbits, otters, and walruses, as test subjects, the company sought to turn them into higher life forms by mechanically modifying them. They ended up creating the otter Lylla, the walrus Teefs, the rabbit Floor and cyborg subordinates like the War Pig, Behemoth and Hellspawn. They also created a number of original species, such as the Sovereign. However, none of them pleased the High Evolutionary.
Eventually, the High Evolutionary experimented on a baby raccoon, which he labeled P13 of Batch 89. 89P13 was turned into a cybernetically enhanced cyborg that would later name himself Rocket. Around this time, the company started to transition the progress from cybernetically enhanced animals to using chemicals to genetically evolving them into humanoids named "Animen". Rocket helped the company crack the code to give humanoids intelligence, before deciding to have Batch 89, Rocket's prison and the home of Lylla, Teefs and Floor, incinerated.
Not wanting his friends to die, Rocket crafted an impromptu key card to unlock their cages and free them. However, the High Evolutionary arrived and shot Lylla, while his men killed Teefs and Floor. Enraged, Rocket mauled the High Evolutionary's face to an irreparable degree before escaping from Counter-Earth.
Afterwards, the High Evolutionary masked his injuries with a prosthetic face, and he and the company continued their experiments, filling Counter-Earth with Animen. However, the Animen still displayed a lot of the flaws that were present in humans. This prompted the High Evolutionary to develop a new species named the Star Children in secret and decided to wipe out Counter-Earth.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3[]
Years following his escape, Rocket and the Guardians went to the Celestial skull outpost of Knowhere. One night, he is attacked by Adam Warlock who was sent by the High Evolutionary to kidnap him and bring him back to Counter-Earth.
During their battle, Rocket is severely injured by Adam, so the Guardians head to Orgoscope, Orgocorp's headquarters, to find a pass key needed to deactivate the kill-switch in Rocket's heart and ensure his survival. After retrieving the core containing the pass key however, they discover that the key was deleted and recorded hours prior by Theel, one of the High Evolutionary's top scientists, who is currently stationed on Counter-Earth.
Upon arriving at Counter-Earth, the Guardians enter the High Evolutionary's base where he explains his goals and sets off in a massive spaceship to attempt to recreate a new planet and race, destroying Counter-Earth and wiping out the entire Humanimal population. While Star-Lord and Groot manage to extract the pass key from Theel, escape the cataclysm alongside Gamora and successfully revive Rocket, the Guardians' other members, Nebula, Drax and Mantis, secretly board the ship, where they would come across the hundreds of Star Children trapped in cages before the High Evolutionary finds and imprisons all three.
As the spaceship continues to fly, Star-Lord contacts Kraglin Obfonteri to transport the entirety of Knowhere to the ship's location and fire at it, setting off its gradual destruction before he, Groot, Gamora and Rocket board the ship and regroup with the others, who escape with a trio of Abilisks.
As the Guardians fights the High Evolutionary's men and evacuates the Star Children onto Knowhere, Rocket finds and frees all the captured Earth animals, including his original family of raccoons. However, the High Evolutionary quickly finds him and violently attacks him, foolishly ranting that he's nothing but a failed experiment, only to be quickly overpowered by the other Guardians, as they violently beat him up. Gamora stabs the High Evolutionary in the side of his chest before ripping off his mask to reveal his mutilated face. While the High Evolutionary was taken into custody, its unclear what happened to Orgocorp.
