Orson (translated as "Olsson" in the Japanese version) is a minor antagonist in Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones. Originally a knight loyal to the Kingdom of Renais, he later betrays Renais and sides with Grado Empire.
Biography[]
Backstory[]
While not much is known about his past, he is revealed to have been married to a woman named Monica, who he loved dearly. However, when she passed away, he was completely devastated.
Betrayal[]
Shortly after the invasion of Renais by Grado, Orson is shown engaging in guerilla warfare along with Prince Ephraim of Renais and fellow knights Kyle and Forde. During this time, he is approached by Commander Tirado of Grado, who offers him a deal: help them capture Prince Ephraim and Princess Eirika, as well as the bracelets that the twins own, which are needed to claim the Sacred Stone of Renais. In exchange, Grado will bring Monica back to life. Shortly after this, he aids Ephraim in capturing Castle Renvall, where Grado soldiers are waiting to ambush Ephraim. However, Ephraim, Kyle, and Forde escape while Orson remains behind.
Knowing that Princess Eirika is inside Grado and searching for Ephraim, Tirado and Orson spread a rumor the Ephraim is being held prisoner inside Renvall. Shortly after, Orson appears and greets Eirika and Seth when they defeat the forces outside Renvall. He claims Renais is being held prisoner inside the castle and offers to hold onto Eirika's bracelet for safekeeping. However, Seth is suspicious and points out a few things that blow Orson's cover:
- "Why did no enemy reinforcements come from inside the castle?"
- "Why free yourself and leave Prince Ephraim in chains?"
- "Why do you have a sword concealed in your doublet?"
Having no reason to keep on lying, Orson reveals he has betrayed Renais and sided with Grado so that he be reunited with his wife. Tirado then appears and allows Orson to leave, with Orson returning to Renais.
Death[]
Later, it is revealed that Orson has been placed in charge of Renais by Grado, but has instead locked himself in the royal bed-chambers with a reanimated Monica, ignoring the outside world and making no effort to govern the ruined Renais. While speaking with Monica, he is approached by Prince Lyon and General Riev of Grado, who warn him that both Ephraim and Eirika are on their way to Renais Castle in order to reclaim it from Grado. Not wanting them to take Monica away from him, he decides to confront the royal siblings and their army, only to perish during the battle. Afterwards, the rotting reanimated corpse of Monica was burned away so that it may never be used again.

Fire Emblem Heroes[]
Orson is a playable character in the gacha mobile game Fire Emblem Heroes. He only appears in his fallen variation who was added on May 8, 2021, as an grand hero battle.
