Osamu Kirin is a minor character in Season 1 of Yashahime, and the first half of Season 2, but he becomes a major antagonist in the second half.
He was voiced by Yoshimasa Hosoya (who also voiced Third World's Herrscher of the Reason in Honkai Impact 3rd, Wave in Akame Ga Kill!, Reiner Braun in Attack on Titans, IV in Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL, and Kaigaku in Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba) in Japanese and Crispin Freeman (who also voiced Itachi Uchiha in Naruto series, Alucard in Hellsing, Kirei Kotomine in Fate/Zero, Fuuma Monou in X, and Duskmon in Digimon Frontier) in English. Both actors also voiced his progenitor, Kirinmaru.
Biography[]
Osamu Kirin was created from the right arm of Kirinmaru that was chopped off by the Great Dog Demon. Riku was ordered by Zero to dispose of it in the Bone-Eater's Well. The arm eventually formed itself into a human and arrived in the Muromachi period, 500 years in the future. 600 years later, Osamu wanted to become a history teacher at first, but learned that demons had been relegated to mere fictional monsters, so went onto become an English teacher at St. Gabriel's Academy, believing humans didn't want to know the real history.
When the Grim Comet returned to Earth, Osamu continued to watch it as it slowly fell. He also started visiting the Higarashi shrine, the home of one of his students Towa, who had been absent for months. Osamu started to question his place in the Reiwa era, and sought out the Tree of Ages for advice. When demons started emerging from the Grim Comet, Osamu started destroying them to protect the humans, though knew he was powerless against the Grim Comet.
