DID YOU JUST LOOK INTO MY EYE!?
~ Oscar asking Pim if he looked him in the eye.
FOR THE CRIME OF LOOKING IN MY EYE, I SENTENCE YOU TO: DEATH!
~ Mr. Jester sentencing his prisoners for looking in his eye.
Thank you for showing me the silliness of my ways, Pim. I formally declare an end to the eye rule, AND ALL RULES FOR THAT MATTER! NO MORE RULES!!!!!!!!
~ Oscar ending all rules in Spamtopia, which resulted in total anarchy.

Oscar, also known as Mr. Jester, is the main antagonist of the Smiling Friends episode The Magical Red Jewel (aka Tyler Gets Fired).

He is the ruler of Spamtomia and Pim's former penpal who executed those who looked him directly in the eye.

He is voiced by text-to-speech, specifically TruVoice Adult Male #1.

Appearance[]

He is a humanoid-like creature with a gigantic eyeball for a head, giant hands, and a small torso. His body has a rainbow gradient, and his iris is hot pink. He wears a red cape and red jester shoes.

Over the course of the episode, he wears four different hats: a red and white jester hat with gold bells, an executioner's hood, a crown, and a cap. He presumably has a mouth, as he used it to kiss Mr. Boss.

Personality[]

At first, Oscar is a rather insecure individual, using his position as king to ensure other people don't make fun of him for his giant eye. When he became king, he established a new rule in Spamtopia to prevent anyone from looking him directly in the eye, going as far as tearing anyone in half who broke his new law.

Under the surface, however, Oscar is a relatively kind and happy individual, instantly embracing and making amends with Pim after recognizing him as his former penpal, while also thanking him for sending him letters during the tough times he experienced over his insecurities. After this, he formally declares an end to all rules in Spamtopia and realizes the error of his ways. Despite this, he hypocritically mocks Pim for his uneven eyes, not realizing that Pim might feel the same way Oscar felt when others did that to him.

Initially, he spoke in a gibberish language known as Spamish, the native language of Spamtopia, but after Pim accidentally looked him in the eye, he began speaking in natural English.

Biography[]

The episode begins with all Smiling Friends called into Mr. Boss's office, where he explains that he purchased a rare, red jewel from the country of Spamtopia, and that he has to leave to obtain it, though does not speak Spamish, the native language of Spamtopia. Pim chimes in, informing Mr. Boss that he knows some Spamish, after which Mr. Boss enlists him as his translator and the two drive off.

On the roadtrip to Spamtopia, Mr. Boss asks Pim about why he chose to learn an obscure language like Spammish. Pim explains that he hasn't spoken Spammish before in-person, but that he learned it from his Spamish penpal named Oscar. Mr. Boss explains that Spamtopia has some traditions that they strictly follow, and also argues that Spamish culture is primitive. As the two arrive, the people of Spamtopia sing a song about respecting their nation's only rule; to not look anyone in the eye.

Pim and Mr. Boss arrive at a diner to meet their contact, Mr. Jester. Remembering their only rule, the two are horrified to discover that Mr. Jester's head is a giant eyeball. Mr. Boss greets Mr. Jester as he and Pim take their seats and attempts to give an order to the waitress, only for her to disappear. The negotiations start off strong, but a mosquito soon lands on Mr. Jester and starts to suck at his giant eye. Pim asks Mr. Jester to bring out the red jewel, but as he does, the mosquito bursts a vein in his eye. Pim reflexively looks at it to assess the damage, gazing directly into Mr. Jester's eye and gaining the negative attention of Mr. Jester and the rest of the diner.

Pim and Mr. Boss are then brought to a stage where Mr. Jester starts executing those who looked into his eye by ripping their body in half. Mr. Boss offers a Pim a way out by offering him a cyanide pill. Not wanting to take the pill, Pim asks Mr. Jester to speak to the leader of Spamtopia before they are executed, though Mr. Jester promptly reveals that he is the leader by swapping his executioner's hood for a crown. Lifting Pim up into the air, he plans to tear him in half, but Pim whispers a Spamish prayer. Mr. Jester is surprised to hear the prayer, stating that he made it up and shared it with only one other person. This allows him to recognize Pim as his old penpal, and Pim to recognize Mr. Jester as Oscar.

Apologizing to Pim for nearly killing him and his boss, Oscar reveals that Pim's correspondence was the only thing helped him through tough times born from insecurity regarding his eye. Pim assures him there's nothing wrong with having a weird looking eye, pointing out his own, and that he should learn to love himself. Oscar agrees that he has funny looking eyes, and he and the city mocks Pim for them. Oscar pardons them and gives them the jewel. Mr. Boss then says he learned that all cultures should be respected before kissing Oscar. Oscar nullifies not only the eye rule, but all rules all together and shouts no more rules to everyone, causing Spamtopia to devolve into anarchy, the fabric of reality itself collapsing around them. This causes Pim and Mr. Boss to quickly leave Spamtopia as it devolves into complete chaos, but not before a Spamtopian waitress chases them down and attacks.
