Later on, an orderly attacks him out of the blue, resulting in him being restrained by Nolan and others. Oscar is confused by the latter accusing him, until recognizing as Rod Carmichael who he previously ratted on before he is taken away. He smugly tells Celina he beat her prophecy, but she isn't convinced.

In the elevator, he witnesses Nolan hold Acker at gunpoint and reveals to all that he is no doctor but a criminal named Troy Hoffman and discovers that Hoffman had goons hold Dr. Bernard's family hostage and they'd only live if Oscar dies. Horrified, Oscar directly questioned what he did to Hoffman, to which the latter answers (while being cuffed) that he sold Hoffman's brother out to a prison gang who shanked him to death. He is angry that Hutchinson doesn't recall and Nolan insults the latter for him while calling his team to save Bernard's family. A cuffed Hoffman remains calm, as Nolan awaits an update on the rescue and soon they get a confirmation that Bernard's family were saved and Hoffman's goons are in custody. Satisfied, Nolan tells a stunned Hoffman that he has lost leverage and is officially under arrest for kidnapping, hostage taking, and attempted murder. Although a shaken Oscar protested, his surgery then proceeds as planned.
