Otome Tohoten is the main antagonist of the Japanese multimedia franchise, Hypnosis Mic: Division Rap Battle. She is the prime minister of Japan as well as the founder for her political party, the Party Of Words.
She was voiced by Yū Kobayashi in Japanese, who also voiced Black Maria in One Piece.
Biography[]
Otome is the daughter of the politician, Sairo Tohoten. Sairo had very sexist views regarding women and even arranged a marriage for his daughter, his young assistant, Mikado Asuka. Although dreading the ide at first, Otome soon grew a liking towards Mikado after finding out that he believed that women should be more involved in politics. This lead to Otome becoming more involved in politics and creating the political party, the Party of Words. Eventually, Otome and Mikado got married and had a son that they named "Dice".
One day, Otome was confronted by Rei Amayado who presented her with evidence that Sairo was guilty of corruption. Although hesitant, Otome used this evidence to convince Mikado to turn himself and Sairo into the authorities. With her husband and father now out of the picture, Otome's political party, the Party of Words, grew in power. Now more devoted to politics, Otome gave Dice to be raised by her relatives, the Arisugawas.
Years later, Rei presented Otome his latest invention, the Hypnosis Microphone, special microphones that have the unique ability to affect a person's nervous system through rapping. Otome would purchase these weapons in an attempt to further boost her political power.
Otome then staged a coup against the current patriarchal government, dismantling it and becoming the new Prime Minister of Japan. Upon seizing power, Otome would ban the use of all lethal weapons, replacing them with Hypnosis Mics. From then on, conflicts would now be resolved with rap battles.
Over the span of three years, Otome would create Division Rap Battles, where hip hop groups representing a division of Japan would engage in rap battles against each other in exchange for money and terrority.
Personality[]
Due to the sexism she faced from her father as well as witnessing all the atrocities that the men in power committed, Otome is misandristic, believing that the world would be better with women in charge of the government and has no qualms against forcing men to fight each other for money and territory. Despite her misandry, she does seem to show some love towards her husband and son (although she has apparently disowned Dice). She also seems to get along with the Deputy Prime Minister, Ichijiku Kadenokoji.
