Overlord Charlemagne is a minor antagonist in the Sonic the Hedgehog comic book series by Archie Comics. He is the last known ruler of the Overland, who led Overlanders in the Great War against the Kingdom of Acorn.
Appearance[]
Charlemagne is a muscular man. He wears a grey bodysuit with orange undertones. His hair is brown in some illustrations, but orange in others.
Biography[]
Tensions between Mobians and Overlanders held up for centuries, and eventually allowed Charlemagne, then-Overlord of the Overland to gain support for his plans to invade the Mobian-populated Kingdom of Acorn. Thanks to the manipulations of Ixis Naugus and Kodos the Lion, the Great War between two nations ultimately came to be. After years of fighting, the leaders of the warring powers made an agreement to decide the outcome of the war in a duel, that was actually arranged by Dr. Robotnik as a prelude to his coup against King Acorn. Overlord Charlemange and King Maximillian Acorn duelled with swords, and Acorn ultimately won it. Keeping his part of the deal, Charlemagne surrendered to the victor and disappeared from the public eye, and was never seen again. In the aftermath of his defeat, the Overland collapsed, with most Overlanders choosing to leave Mobius for space.

- Charlemagne appears to have five fingers rather than four, which is more common for humans than Overlanders.
