Pablo Caballero is a supporting antagonist in FPJ’s Batang Quiapo.
He is the grandson of Señor Facundo Caballero and Señora Bettina Caballero, the owners of the largest casino in the city known as Golden Stallion Casino who are business partners of Don Julio Montenegro in the underworld. He has also intense rivalry with David A. Dimaguiba whose pretending as Hesus Montenegro who will be the next heir of their grandparents’ shady businesses.
He is played by Elijah Canlas, who also played Archimedes "Archie" Aguerro in Senior High and its sequel High Street.
Background[]
Born to a wealthy family of Caballeros and throughout his life he was raised by his grandparents for unknown reasons with his younger sister Catherine. With this chosen lifestyle he was raised spoiled but at the same time he was also mentored by his grandfather Señor Facundo in dealing their business and disciplined him to be their successor in their business.
One day he was invited to introduce him to the Montenegros by Señor Facundo, only to create a scene after he accidentally bumped David resulting into a heated argument thus humiliated themselves to each other. With this incident he was forced to make amend with Hesus Montenegro (David) who had a grudge to each other. As he makes an amend with David, he toys with David pretending him to be his ally in their businesses. He once again argued with David upon learning that he was dating Catherine but this was resolved as David pretends to make amend with him as request by their grandparents.
One night he encounters Tanggol upon asking him to surrender his gun but he was able to enter without surrendering his gun thanks to his ego allowing him to enter with a gun and due to them being very rich, something Tanggol hates since he thinks that Rich people think they are going to get what they want since their rich which he thinks is stupid. Upon entering the bar, he challenged Baste to play billiards with him and made a lot of bets ending up threatening Baste with a gun after refusing to accept his defeat caused by Baste’s desperation to win with the help of Bubbles to distract him. He challenged once again Baste for final round, however Baste chose Tanggol to compete with him instead. He was able to defeat Tanggol due to him not that experienced in playing billiards and made bets with him to date Bubbles if he defeated Tanggol in billiards.
The following night, Tanggol compete with him in another round of billiards resulting his defeat allowing Boss B to obtain his bar back. Despite his defeat he bought the Big B’s bar for him to get Bubbles as his girlfriend. With this strategy, he took Bubbles as his date to their home only to trap her by attempting to rape her.
Later on Tanggol learns that he attempted to rape her causing him to be beaten seriously by Tanggol. Seriously beaten by Tanggol, he extracts his revenge to Bubbles and Tanggol by abducting Bubbles and forcing himself to her.
Personality[]
He is portrayed to be obnoxious and a spoiled rich individual due to being raised into a wealthy lifestyle throughout his life. With his obnoxious character he is seen to be arrogant and egotistical as seen that he gets easily mad if anyone won’t follow what he wants or anyone who will be ruining his ways, even to the point that he will threaten them with his gun or beat them. With his egotistical nature this also makes him an insecure individual as seen mostly if he encounters or competes with David, indicating that he fears anyone will outrank him and who’s better than him.
Despite of his overall egomaniac and obnoxious nature, he has also good qualities in him such as he cares everyone he loves such as his grandmother Señora Bettina as seen that he demands their maids to give her medicine on time and to his sister Catherine as he protects her anyone whom he distrust such as David.
Death[]
He is killed by Tanggol with a hammer. The reason why he is killed by Tanggol, is to avenge Bubbles for raping her.
Trivia[]
- It is unknown if why he never stayed with his parents and lived with his grandparents instead together with his sister Catherine as they were never seen nor mentioned in the series.
- His actor Elijah Canlas was the ex-girlfriend of Miles Ocampo who also played in Batang Quiapo portraying young Marites Dimaguiba.
- He somehow shares personality with Calvin Magallanes for being both obnoxious wealthy spoiled kids, portrayed to be arrogant and egotistical individuals.
