The Paladins are major antagonists in the manga and anime series, Black Clover. They are a group of human mages that been have been bestowed the magic of purified Devils by Lucius Zogratis.
Appearances[]
While keeping their initial appearances, the hosts gain many angelic appearances such as white wings, a halo floating above their head and receiving a glowing appearance.
Description[]
In order for his objective of seeking to bring harmony to the world, Lucius discovered a technique with the use of his soul magic that allows him to let devils possess their victim’s body as a result of giving them new powers replacing their original magic. They are referred to as “Paladins” by Lucius in who seeks on dominating the world as the self-proclaimed “Magic Great Emperor”. All paladins are infused with the command that they must follow Lucuis's orders, even if those orders were something their original selves would never do such as murdering a loved one. Paladins' true selves still exist underneath the effects of Lucius control, but they are unable to resist Lucius's commands.

Powers & Abilities[]
Paladins are highly powerful beings that have presumably eternal life-spans along with vast magic powers, advanced automatic healing, enhanced knowledge as well as granting them the ability of flight. Furthermore, as a result of the purified devil possessing its host, it also modifies their grimoires and gives their host new advanced spells and boosted abilities. The first paladins were vulnerable to sufficient damage from strong opponents, but the next set proved to be far more resilient. Anti Magic is their greatest weakness because it severs them from the magic controlling them, but those severed from Lucius will remain comatose until he is defeated and the last of his influence.
