Pandora's Actor is a supporting character in Overlord. He is an Area Guardian of the Treasury and the financial manager of Nazarick. He is responsible for the upkeep of Nazarick and Ainz Ooal Gown guild.
Pandora's Actor is a Greater Doppelgänger and the creation of Ainz himself. While lacking major appearance directly in the main story, he sometimes disguises Ainz himself as his understudy when Ainz is outside Nazarick as Momonga.
He is voiced by Mamoru Miyano in Japanese version (who also voiced Light Yagami in Death Note, Chrollo Lucilfer in Hunter X Hunter, Shuu Tsukiyama in Tokyo Ghoul and Doma in Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba), and by Eric Vale in English version.
Personality[]
Pandora's Actor is a fiercely devoted Area Guardian to the Forty-One Supreme Beings, particularly Ainz himself. Although, unlike other NPCs in Nazarick, he would question Ainz and even fight his colleagues over that if needed. This seems to indicate Pandora's Actor reflects Ainz's true meek self; like how Sebas is modeled after his creator Touch Me.
Overall, due to his chracter setting, Pandora's Actor shows himself to be a reminscence to Ainz when he was younger (as Satoru Suzuki), being an over-the-top and flamboyant individual who often sprouts German and has a quirk to show exaggrated gestures, something he himself thinks is ordinary. As a result, he often receives scorns from other Nazarick individuals (particularly Albedo, Demiurge and Pleades maids) and even worse, Ainz's embarressment.
Nevertheless, despite his flamboyance, Pandora's Actor is a capable and pratical individual, something Ainz acknowledges.
After Ainz acknowledges Pandora's Actor as his child figure, the NPC is asked to try growing as a person beyond what Ainz programmed him to be. Flattered by his father's compliment, Pandora's Actor promised to improve upon himself and move beyond his flashu behavior.
History[]
He appears for the first time when Ainz, Albedo and Yuri arrive to take World Items for fighting a brainwashed Shalltear. He first appears as Tabula, Albedo's creator among the Supreme Beings; angering her. After Ainz orders him to normalize, Pandora's Actor manages to anger his creator with his actions; he is quietly ordered to stop as it makes him look unstable.
When Sebas's loyalty is called into question with hos acquisition of Taure, Pandora's Actor takes Ainz's form to speak on his behalf; due to Demiurge's paranoia. After Sebas passes the test, Pandora's Actor excuses himself under the guise of Ainz needing time to think over what course of action to take. He nearly blows the cover by dramaictally announcing his teleportation.
As part of the plan to put E-Rantel's populace at peace with the Sorcerer Kingdom now ruling them, Pandora's Actor takes the form of Momon and helps stage the adventurer becoming the enforcer and protector of the town for Nazarick.
Trivia[]
- Currently, Pandora's Actor possesses the highest amount of screen time appearance in the main Light Novel series, Pure Pure Pleiades series, and Isekai Quartet series than his Anime and Manga counterparts.
- In the original novel, the narrative never directly reveal when Pandora's Actor disguised as Ainz or Momonga, only leaving readers to guess judging from Ainz' demeanor and the plot. However, the anime's narrative is more specific in differnciate the real Ainz and the impostor via physical appearance. For instance, the real Ainz's eyes glow in red spots when they are opened, while the fake Ainz's eyes are always pitch black.
- He has strong desire to touch the items in Nazarick's Vault from time to time; having originally been their guard and maintenance keeper. Ainz gave him a teleportation ring to go back to the vault, so it can help take the edge off. Oddly befitting how Ainz doesn't feel at ease until he's alone with his own posessions.
