“ | The Pantheon is composed of former European and US Operatives. I don't know who leads them. | „ |
~ Saeed Alawi to William "Case" Calderon, Troy Marshall and Jane Harrow. |
The Pantheon are the main antagonists of the 2024 video game of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6.
It's is an international paramilitary terrorist organization which started off as a top-secret subdivision of the CIA, but were disavowed by Daniel Livingstone after shutting down Project Cradle. Despite being disbanded, they continued to operate in secrecy by embedding itself into Langley and gaining allies from other international organizations. In 1991, they were exposed by Troy Marshall and his team after Jane Harrow's false flag operation, but Pantheon continues their plans to maintain secrecy by fighting the Rogue Black Ops.
History[]
Formation[]
Founded sometime before the 1970s, Pantheon was one of the Central Intelligence Agency's top-secrets subdivision, being so covert that other divisions didn't know they existed. While their methods effective, Pantheon became one of Langley's most ruthless subdivision and were becoming unpalatable to the U.S. Government as the Cold War was in America's favor.
Project Cradle[]
In the 1970s, Pantheon worked with the Advanced Technologies and Applications, a black ops research program founded by its executive director Springer Greyson. The subdivision worked on numerous projects a the facility, but the most notable is one codenamed "Cradle" with the intention of creating performance enhancing drugs to soldiers. However, the project went from performance enhancement drugs to making a virological weapon, with exposed victims developing hostile aggression and manic behavior.
Disavowed[]
In 1981, William Calderon became the first (and only) test subject under the name "Case One", and Pantheon manipulated him with Cradle to make the perfect soldier. However, Calderon suffered from the Cradle's effects and sabotaged the facility, flooding it with the virological weapon and killing staff members. As a result, CIA official Daniel Livingstone shut down the project and disavowed Pantheon for their unethical methods (and potentially for the subdivision being deemed unnecessary in post-Cold War world). Afterward, Pantheon scientists covered up their involvement by programming Calderon, whom was later "rehabilitated" and trained to become a CIA assassin.
Reformation[]
Despite their disbandment, Pantheon continued to operate in the shadows of Langley, embedding itself into the CIA by recruiting agents into their ranks. The organization reformed itself as a paramilitary organization, bringing in mercenaries and other global operatives with numerous abilities. One of their members, Jane Harrow revived Project Cradle and brought Matvey Gusev into Pantheon to enhance the virological weapon's attributes. Pantheon also started to form alliances with numerous groups and syndicates, such as Luttazzi crime family and other factions in Avalon, and garnered enough manpower and influence across Europe.
By 1990, Pantheon formed an alliance with Iraqi President Saddam Hussein, providing him with a sample of Cradle in exchange for facilities, weapons and manpower. However, Harrow's false flag operation involved framing Hussein for their planned attack on the Capitol Building.
Panama Operation[]
In 1989, Pantheon learned that Jason Hudson found evidence of them infiltrating Langley, and decided to work with Raul Menendez by revealing the CIA's plan to assassinate him during the United States' invasion of Panama. The collaboration proved successful, as Menendez and Manuel Noriega were able to cause the deaths of Hudson and Alex Mason, but Frank Woods was left crippled by the drug lord for accidentally killing his sister. In 1990, Pantheon incriminated Russell Adler by giving the CIA falsified documents of the clandestine agent receiving fund transfers from Menendez. However, Hudson informed Adler of the evidence of he found, thus allowing him to flee and investigate Pantheon.
False Flag Operation[]
In 1991, Pantheon forces arrive at the Kuwait-Iraq border to capture or kill Iraqi Minister of Defence Saeed Alwai, as he's aware of existence, dealings with Saddam Hussein and their virological weapon. However, Adler executed him before he could fall into their hands, allowing Pantheon to remain covert for the time being despite failing to kill Harrow's team. After the failed operation, Harrow persuades Livingstone to suspend her team, potentially to halt their intentions of continuing Adler's investigation. This had the opposite effect, as Woods was aware of what Adler's message meant and travels to "The Rook" with Troy Marshall and Case. While the suspended agents investigate, Pantheon gather intelligence regarding Adler's location and infiltrate the Capitol Station black site to eliminate him.
During their questioning of what Adler has possibly told the black site officials, he's rescued by Marshall and his team when they infiltrate Bill Clinton's gala. Following their failed mission, Pantheon fights against Marshall's team and the British SAS when they gain access to Hussein's bunker that was holding Cradle. Once again, Marshall and his team are able to thwart the paramilitary organization, thus obtaining a sample of Cradle, documents detailing the Advanced Technologies and Applications, and an encrypted disc showcasing Harrow and Gusev observing a test of the virological weapon.
Later on, Pantheon send ground troops to stop Marshall's team when they perform a heist at the Luttazzi's casino and to help Gusev escape at the Kuwaiti International Airport. Both of these attempts fail, however, notably the latter as Gusev reveals that Pantheon is operating at Vorkuta. While at the former labor camp, the paramilitary organization fights against the rogue agents during their assault. The Pantheon is thwarted once again, ending with Marshall capturing Harrow despite her sending off the Cradle from the former prison. Unbeknownst to the rogue agents initially, Pantheon chipped the operations specialist and commence a siege at the Rook safehouse.
During the siege, Pantheon retrieve Harrow after her interrogation, but Case crashes her escape helicopter before presumably killing her. The paramilitary organization's false flag operation also fails, as Marshall contacts Livingstone about the situation and is able to stop Cradle from being released.
Crimson One[]
Two weeks after Harrow's presumed death, Jackson Caine breaks into Livingstone's office to obtain classified files from his computer. With a rogue black ops team formed under Livingstone's supervision, Pantheon creates a squad named "Crimson" to stop the CIA from revealing their existence.
