Papa's Daughters are minor characters in the comic adaptation of the Cartoon Network miniseries Over the Garden Wall. They are two young girls who have a giant of "Papa."
Appearance[]
They both look like Sun Bonnet Sue. One has a pink dress and a white bonnet and the other has a purple dress and a cyan bonnet. Their bonnets are always covering their faces so it's impossible to tell if they are human or not.
Personality[]
They like tea parties and appear sweet. However, they hate doing chores and force Wirt to do it threaten him by telling their Papa. They also give bad instructions to him making him make things worse.
Biography[]
On their way to Adelaide, Wirt accidentally trips and falls on their flower bed, much to their dismay. They are both worried that if they tell their papa, he will get uncontrollably upset and might hurt someone. Worried, Wirt agreed to do their chores in exchange for them not telling their papa.
They tell him to fold the linen and burn them, Wirt was confused but one daughter says that their papa likes a clean yard. While this happens, they have a tea party with Greg and Beatrice, but they use pretend food making Greg think they've gone missing. Wirt lights a match and sets the linen on fire, but it turns out that they meant the leaves when they said "them". Beatrice agreed with Wirt saying they weren't very clear while the latter begs them not to tell papa. The daughters decided to have Wirt break all the eggs in the chicken coop. So, after making sure that's what they mean, he smashed all the eggs all over the coop. However, there was another misunderstanding, Wirt was supposed to put the broken eggs in a bowl for papa to eat.
Wirt tries to leave by saying he'll make it worse, but everyone except Greg thought it was a threat. They decided to have Wirt make their dog drown but, unable to think of any good way to reinterpret that, both Wirt and Beatrice refuse. So, the two tell Papa everything Wirt has done. However, it turns out Papa is actually a big softie, what makes him dangerous is that his crying causes huge floods. The three of them leave, and the daughters were last seen telling their papa that it is too flooded for them to do chores. Beatrice tells Wirt that the two were just using him to get out of their chores and that he's not a bad person.
Trivia[]
- After leaving the daughters, Wirt, Greg, and Beatrice jumped in the same cart then were in at the beginning of "Songs of the Dark Lantern". It was also raining for most of the episode; Papa may have been the reason for that.
- In the stop-motion short to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Over the Garden Wall, a figure of one of Papa's Daughters can be seen.
