The Parasites are the mysterious mind-controlling slug-like monsters that makes their only appearance in the first Silent Hill game.
These parasitic creatures infects the entire staff of the abandoned Alchemilla Hospital (with the exception of Dr. Michael Kauffman), as well as Officer Cybil Bennett and probably even Nurse Lisa Garland herself. They seems to be weak to the eldritch alchemical substance known as Aglaophotis that is thought to created from the active ingredient called White Claudia, the same indigenous plant within the legendary ghost town Silent Hill used to conduct the notorious recreational drug PTV not only used in The Order's cultic activities, but maybe the reason why Nurse Garland herself never transformed as soon as her now deceased hospital co-workers (all referred to as "Puppet Doctors and "Puppet Nurses"), if she was contaminated.
These small reddish-brown sluggish beasts bout half a meter in length.
Victims of the Parasites often vomit blood and bleed from their head and every orifice. They also tend to have hunchbacks. At one point, Lisa Garland seems to exhibit involuntary twitching of her left eye.
Trivia[]
- These creatures are similar in appearance to the Tremers. It is interesting to note that they may be the same monstrous species, especially considering Henry Townshend can be mildly injured by merely contacting one.
- The symbolic elucidation behind the Parasites is unclear, but along with the other monsters, they are likely to be linked to Alessa Gillespie. They may be related to the God fetus brooding within Alessa's womb, as the God can be seen as a scrounger in that definition to Alessa's very own body, digesting off her spite and dread she has felt throughout her days. It also might represent Alessa's feelings of how The Order themselves manipulating her entire life, given the Parasites' own ability to control other living beings.
- The Parasites are sometimes referred to by some Silent Hill fans as "Monsters".
