Dad beat you all the time, but you never fought back or anything.
~ Park Yong-sik to Jang Geum-ja mentioning his father.

Park Yong-sik's father also known as Jang Geum-ja's ex-husband is an unseen minor antagonist of Seasons 2-3 of Netflix's K-drama Squid Game. He was an abusive husband and father. He passed away due to unknown causes.

Biography[]

Being a mentioned character only, the father is enveloped in mystery. Through mentions, it's revealed that he married to Jang Geum-ja and they would have a son named Park Yong-sik.

When Yong-sik tries to bargain with his mother that she should switch her Seeker role with him, he reveals that his father would beat her up every time he got drunk, and she'd never won a fight against him.

The father is also unfaithful and cheated on his wife, as Yong-sik reminds Geum-ja about his lover to encourage her so she could've won Gonggi.

He and Geum-ja would eventually divorce, and he would pass away from unknown causes not too long before October 2024.

Trivia[]

  • He shares similarities with Ji-yeong's father, as both are unseen characters who were abusive to their family.
