~ Patrick Hockstetter |
Patrick Hockstetter is one of the villains from Stephen King's book It.
He was played by Gabe Khouth
Book
Patrick Hockstetter is a disturbing individual who has a solipsistic view of the world, seeing himself as the only "real" being. When his parents had another child, his baby brother Avery, Patrick is threatened by the idea that Avery might too be "real" when the baby gets more attention. Deciding to reclaim his position, Patrick smothers Avery in his crib with a pillow. Afterwards, life seemingly goes on for him.
Patrick is also fond of entrapping animals in an abandoned junkyard refrigerator where they suffocate to death. At school, he often shows a box of dead flies like hunting trophies. He also demonstrates perverted tendencies, such as being sexually thrilled when killing Avery, tugging on any female peer's hair if they sat ahead of him, and sexually propositioning Henry Bowers. (In the last instance, Hockstetter is threatened to remain silent lest Henry expose the truth of the refrigerator.)
Ultimately, his tool of animal torture leads to his undoing. Assuming the form of a multitude of leech-like parasites (noted to be the one thing that Patrick has ever been disturbed by), IT attacks Patrick and causes him to lose a lot of blood. IT appears, tells him "Hello and Goodbye", and drags him away. The text notes that the last time Patrick ever woke up, IT has started feeding on him.
Film
In the 1990 adaptation, he is one of the bullies in Henry's gang, filling the role of Henry's associate Victor Criss from the book. He separates from Henry and Belch as they enter the sewers to kill the Losers, but is attacked and killed by Pennywise in the form of the Deadlights.
Trivia
- He is the fourth Non Disney villain who is thought to be the hunter who killed Bambi's mother the other three being Shaw, Victor Quartermaine, Jack Merridew and Roger.
