Patrick Shostak is a Polish hired hitman under the employ of mobster Oskar Bembenek, being tasked to murder several people after his arrest.
Background[]
It is mentioned that Shostak belonged to a new generation of hitmen. At some point, Shostak joined Bembenek's criminal organization, passing out assassination targets to ambitious hitmen.
The Weigh Station[]
Following an ambush by the CPD, Bembenek is arrested and his brother, Jacob, is murdered by Det. Jay Halstead, then Shostak finds out about the "list" that Bembenek had, which contained the names of the people that Bembenek wanted dead if he went to prison. At first, Bembenek offered that job to former hitman Joe Price, but Joe turned it down. As result, Bembenek called Shostak from prison offering him the job, Shostak initially gets angry at Bembenek for not trusting him with the job first but accepts the job and begins his task.
One of the people on the list was the daughter of Assistant State's Attorney Steve Kot, who was prosecuting Bembenek. Shostak located Steve's daughter, Dora Kot, shot her twice in the head, killing her. The next person on the list was the mother of the judge who tried the Bembenek case, Joseph Murray, Shostak broke into the house of Judge Murray's mother and killed her with two shots to the head. Much later, Joe Price collaborates with the Chicago police, calling Shostak to tell him that he had Halstead kidnapped, and that he would let him go if Shostak didn't give him half of the money he earned. Shostak wants to haggle over the price, Joe agrees and tells Shostak that he was going to send a photo of the dead detective, but Shostak does not accept, saying that he wanted to see it with his own eyes while the latter was alive. At Halstead's instruction, Joe accepts and Shostak agrees to a time for the meeting. Soon, Joe arrives at the meeting place, at that moment Shostak calls Joe, asking him to get Jay out of the car, Joe accepts and takes Halstead out of the car. Shostak asks Joe to go to an abandoned lot to continue the deal, while Joe was heading there Shostak sends a photo to Joe, in which Price's son seen bound and gagged to a chair,. As it turns out, Shostak abducted the boy to have leverage against Joe should be betray him. Shocked, the frantic Joe drives to another meeting point, where Shostak orders him to get rid of his phone and the car he used to get there. After Joe steals a car, Shostak finally tells him the last point where they were going to meet, Joe arrives at the place first but is easily disarmed and subdued by Halstead, Shostak arrived at the meeting place, but began to see a patrol car where Hank Voight and Erin Lindsay were approaching, fleeing the scene and starting a chase, but at one point in the chase Shostak was distracted, crashing into another vehicle and subsequently causing his vehicle to overturn. Shostak was still alive, he was only injured. Seeing them, Shostak surrenders by raising his hands and leaves the car and then allows himself to be arrested, Price's son was in the trunk of the car.
While visiting him, Det. Alvin Olinsky relays to Bembenek on Shostak's arrest and joked they could be cellmates. Olinsky also had Bembenek transferred to another prison to face the wrath of his murdered mistress' brother and stop more killings.
