It was a name that sounded so sweet, so seductive. Synonymous with wealth, style, power. You passed one of their windows and peeked inside, hoping you’d earn enough money someday to afford the second-cheapest item. Surprise! You won’t. But the last name was a curse too. It belonged to a Tuscan family. They didn’t fight over land or crown. They fought over their own skins.
~ Patrizia Reggiani
Can you keep a secret? Cross your heart and hope to die."
"Father, Son and House of Gucci.
~ Paolo Gucci and Patrizia Reggiani
I don't consider myself a particularly ethical person, but I am fair. What I cannot wrap my head around is people who steal just for ego or the pleasure of it. For personal satisfaction.
~ Patrizia Reggiani to Paola Franchi

Patrizia Gucci (née Reggiani) is the villainous main protagonist of Ridley Scott's 2021 film House of Gucci, based on Sara Gay Forden's 2001 book The House of Gucci: A Sensational Story of Murder, Madness, Glamour, and Greed. She is based on a real individual.

She was portrayed by Lady Gaga, who also portrayed El Cameleón in Machete Kills, Countess Elizabeth Johnson in American Horror Story: Hotel and Scáthach in American Horror Story: Roaknoke.

Personality[]

Patrizia Reggiani is an ambitious individual, seeking to rise to the top of the Gucci fashion empire. She encourages her husband Maurizio to become more involved in the business of his family so that they may find success and have a better life. She has a treacherous nature, conspiring to remove anyone whom she sees as a threat to the goals she wishes to achieve, such as when she had Aldo exposes for tax evasion, which resulted in him going to prison, and when she reported Paolo for copyright violations, which ended his career as a designer. She will also threaten anyone whom she sees as a potential threat, such as Paola Franchi when she suspected that there was something between her and Maurizio.

It is unclear if Patrizia genuinely loved Maurizio or if she simply married him for the money and status that came with it, as his father Rodolfo suggested. Patrizia's scheming creates a lot of opportunities for Maurizio and makes her initially timid husband into a much more confident and self-assured man. However, this ultimately ends up working against her, as it convinces him that he can run Gucci without her help and gives him more of a drive to pursue the things he wants, hence he divorces her to pursue a romance with his childhood friend Paola. Once her attempts to get him back fail, Patrizia becomes bitter, jealous and vengeful, which leads to her stalking him, leaving threatening messges on his answering machine and eventually hiring two hitmen to murder him. However, she does sincerely love her daughter Alessandra and will go to any lengths to provide for her and give her the best life possible.

Pina tells Patrizia that with the great love in her life, she can conquer the world.

Ira says that it was a birthday gift from her husband and Patrizia discovers that replicas of Gucci products are being sold at street markets. She shows them to Maurizio, who admits that as far as fakes go, they are pretty good. She chastizes him for not taking it seriously and insinuates that if the credibility of Gucci is damaged, it reflects badly on all of them. They bring the issue to Aldo, who does not consider it a problem and tells Patrizia to stay out of it, as it is a man's game.
