So yeah, I killed that a****** Noriega. Stabbed him in the throat and left him to bleed out on the dockside. Maybe that shocks you a bit, maybe not, but trust me when I say he had it coming. Eight years we worked together, and it was him that got carried away kicking McMullen’s head in and moved it from assault to GBH, but sure enough, when we get picked up he turns on me and I get pinned for it. Five years I served because of him, while he walked free as you please.
~ Lee Rentoul on Paul Noriega.

Paul Noriega is a minor antagonist of the Rusty Quill horror podcast The Magnus Archives, serving as the main antagonist of Mag 14: Piecemeal. He was a ruthless criminal living in London and the partner of Lee Rentoul. He would eventually get Lee sent to prison for five years and become very successful. However, after falling victim to a curse, he was forced to seek the help of Mikaele Saleasa before being killed by his former associate.

Appearance[]

Paul Noreiga's appearance is never described in detail, except that he was smaller than Lee. By the time of his death, he had a glass eye and was missing a few fingers and various teeth.

Personality[]

Noriega was treacherous and self-serving. He had no problem betraying those who he had worked with for years for his own gain, and even felt pride for his backstabbing, having a certain smugness about him. He could be brutally violent to those weaker than himself, but was also very cowardly, and his main priority was always self-preservation.

Biography[]

Paul Noriega seemed somewhat prominent in the crime underbelly of London, working with his associate Lee Rentoul for eight years. One day, he assaulted a young man named Toby McMullen, permanently disfiguring him. Noriega and Lee were arrested shortly thereafter, and Noriega blamed the assault on Lee, offering McMullen drugs to testify against him. This worked and he was allowed to walk scot-free while Lee went to prison. He never ended up giving McMullen the drugs.

Over the next five years, Noriega moved up in the world, making a significant amount of a money and hiring bodyguards. Eventually, Lee Rentoul got out of prison and tried to kill him, but the bodyguards fought him off. However, a few weeks later, Noriega began receiving body parts in mysterious packages that showed up at his flat. He would then lose whatever body part was inside within a few hours. Seeking a cure to this curse, he met with Mikaele Saleasa, a fencer who dealt in paranormal artifacts. Being extremely paranoid, Saleasa made him come alone, and once there the two got into a fight about the price of Noriega's cure. Noriega left having achieved nothing and was then ambushed and murdered by Lee.

Trivia[]

  • Jonathen Sims, the voice of Jonathen Sims, who reads Lee Rentoul's statement about Noriega, pronounces his surname as "Nor-ee-ga", while it is more typically pronounced "Nori-ay-ga".
