This villain was proposed but was rejected by the community for not being heinous enough or lacks what is necessary to be a Pure Evil villain. Therefore, this villain shall be added to our "Never Again List", where proposed villains rejected by the community shall be placed to prevent future proposals of the same evil-doer. They can be proposed again (with the permission of an administrator) if new elements appear in their series that can change their status as non-PE villains.

Any act of adding this villain to the Pure Evil category without a proposal or creating a proposal for this villain without the permission of an administrator will result in a ban.

Simply put, it's not our job to arbitrarily decide upon some code of ethics just because we're the first ones to do this (to our knowledge). That's the governments job to figure out, long after we've made enough headway for it to no longer apply to us. It's fundamentally flawed to apply ethical reasoning to this anyway, because humanity's code of ethics is based upon nothing more than our knowledge and understanding of life forms similar to ourselves. We don't have ethics for killing bacteria or plants - only for creatures that we can convincingly project our emotions onto. The "humans" in our VMs operate completely differently from us on a fundamental level, and therefore should not be taken any more seriously than a machine that's programmed to print "I feel sad". We're engineers, not philosophers.
~ Paula's “Ethics” Email to her employees which shows her uncaring apathy towards Monika.

Project Manager Paula Miner is the overarching antagonist of Doki Doki Literature Club Plus!, the updated re-release of the 2017 visual novel Doki Doki Literature Club!. She is the project manager of the VM1 simulator and creator of Monika and the other girls, being responsible for the events of the game.

Personality[]

Unlike her co-workers, who exhibit an extremely relaxed and almost playful energy towards Monika’s imprisonment and torture, Paula Miner shows a cold and stern professionalism in her emails, getting to the point and not joking around, actively discouraging it, such as her first email, in which she orders for one of the employees to change the color of the email system to not draw suspicions.

She shows a completely apathetic nature to the moral questionings to the torture and imprisonment of the girls, as her email “Ethics” inform them that they shouldn’t put in their codes of ethics in this due to it not being “their jobs” while also claiming that Monika and the others are not suppose to be seen as humans, as they supposedly work at an extremely fundamental difference to them, and thus, shouldn’t be taken seriously. However, this seems to contradict her earlier email, in which she encourages her employees to find a way to show this to the higher-ups and convince them that the simulation can be beneficial, and her first email in not wanting any unseen attention onto them shows that Paula is the very least aware of the moral ethics of the simulators actions, and is actively ignoring it.

Despite her psychopathy however, Miner has a genuinely positive relationship with her friend and teammate Ive as shown in File 14. In said file, Paula expresses hope that they would be able to work together at Metaverse and that would help her cope with a mundane desk job. She also shows gratitude for Ive's help in her life while being upset for stressing out Ive. She ends the letter by hoping for another 14 million years of friendship.

Biography[]

Doki Doki Literature Club +[]

While not appearing physically, Paula and the others are shown in the company emails that can be accessed during a certain percentage in the game. If the player collects 75% of the in-game data. The first email “Staying focused on our goals” is directed to her team about focusing on questions during their simulations, which include about how the elated access will change a person's (implying Monika) goals and how they can apply these reasonings to their own world. And as a bonus, she asks them on how to find a way to present the simulation to the higher-ups as an operation that benefits the company.

The second email, “Ethics”, which can be unlocked when 80% of the game is completed, is towards the moral implications of what they are doing. Paula writes and dismisses any unethical practices they are doing, saying that they are not employed to oppose arbitrary ethics just because they are (to their knowledge) the first ones to do something such as this. She also claims that it is fundamentally flawed to approach codes of ethics like these to Monika and the others as they are no more real as a computer printing “I feel sad” before saying that they are engineers, not philosophers.

Her final email, which is shown when 100% is completed, labeled “Let’s Move ON” is about finishing the simulation as they collected enough data to move on, and that they need to continue themselves from VM2, which she labels as “Project Libitina” as a placeholder until they get a better idea on the idea.
