YOU ARE RACISTS!
~ Pax shouting at the Betty's Justice Officers - her most infamous quote.
Young Ziggy: AH! That hurt! You're mean! You're not supposed to use your Vox on me! Or anyone! I'm telling Moms!
Young Pax: Don't you dare. If you do, I'll put you in that hole and nail it shut!
Young Ziggy: No!
~ Pax threatening to bury her younger sister alive under the floorboards of their home after using her Vox powers to hurt her.

Pax is the main protagonist of the 2024 neo-western video game Dustborn. She is the leader of the titular band of the same name, and is the arch-nemesis of Justice Prefect Kim.

Biography[]

Past Life[]

Pax was very abusive and mean to her younger sister Ziggy, and would often use her Vox power on her despite it not being allowed. On one occasion, Pax threatened to bury Ziggy alive under the house if she ever took her stuff again without asking. Pax was eventually sent away by her mothers, who told Ziggy that Pax ran away.

Pregnancy[]

Prior to the events of the story, Pax would get pregnant with a child she would call Kid for the entirety of the game, whom she would talk to often (the game would use this mechanic as Pax talking to the player).

The Puritan Heist[]

The Dustborn band would meet Theo, a former Puritan employee, and Theo shared a heist plan with them that involved stealing a Data Key from the Puritans and selling to an organization known as The Weave. In exchange, The Weave would be able to transport them all of Nova Scotia for a better life. As all three members needed a way out for various reasons, they all agreed. They broke into the Puritan's Lab, and fought the Adjunct. After defeating him, they stole the Data Key, and fled.

The Overseer would begin to hunt them as a result of their theft, and Pax's action also was noticed by AXIOM, an entity that hated disorder. AXIOM would influence the Overseer to use violence if necessary to destroy Dustborn, as their very existence caused chaos, according to AXIOM.

Powers[]

Pax has the most Vox powers out of anyone in the game, due to her also being able to channel the Vox powers of her unborn child. This allows her to combine both of their Vocal Vox powers to be more powerful.

Push[]

Push is Pax's main Vox power. It allows her to create a loud sound wave that pushes people away. She used this on Ziggy as a child to scare her, since it wasn't very harmful, but Pax would later use it in her adulthood to create stronger waves that did more damage.

Trigger[]

Trigger allows Pax to boost the adrenaline of herself and other allies around her by triggering them, which temporarily makes them stronger against enemies. It is non-lethal on its own.

Bully[]

Bully allows Pax to psychologically abuse her enemies into a weaker state of mind, which allows her to beat them up more easily.

Discord[]

Discord causes chaos among Pax's enemies. By using Discord, Pax can make her enemies question who's side they are on, making them even fight each other rather than her for a short period of time.

Cancel[]

One of Pax's more infamous powers, Pax can cancel an enemy, which makes them hurt themselves, even to the point of death.

Hoax[]

Hoax allows Pax to create illusions on her enemies, specifically making them believe that they are on fire.

Trivia[]

  • Despite being the main protagonist of the game, many players have found Pax to be incredibly annoying.
  • Pax's name means "peace", which is very ironic considering that she often mistreats others including friends and family and resorting to violence.
  • In writing, Pax and the rest of Dustborn were intended to be the heroes, they came across as villains, due to their hateful attitude, criminal record, and tendency to betray and harm others.
