Biography[]
Background[]
Pearl Attaway was born on October 20th, 1833 to unnamed parents, and is related to the Starrick family, being a cousin to Crawford. During her youth, Pearl would inherit her father's company after he retired, and turned it from a goods trading to a private transportation services. She found little success in changing the Attaway company to this, and decided to change it to public omnibuses for London, finding immediate success. Due to her growing success with Transport Attaway, she would gain the ire of her competitor, Malcolm Millner, and he would attack her omnibuses for years. At an unknown point in time, Pearl would join the British Rite of the Templar Order, who believed in gaining control of the world and of the public and fought against the Assassin Order.
Starrick would later offer marriage to Pearl, but she refused, as she wanted to be a self-made woman and wanted to keep Attaway Transport in her name. Attaway would also gain the ire of suitors due to her not wanting to be married, as she her company to become the greatest monopoly in London. When Crawford bought out Millner's company in 1867, he decided to block Pearl's company despite her attempts to make Attaway Transport get the monopoly on London's transportation. Due to Starrick's actions, Millner would have his employees attack her company, with them destroying her buses and abducing her employees.
Assassin's Creed: Syndicate[]
By 1868, Pearl's company was constantly under attack by Millner's employees, and she would meet the assassin Jacob Frye, who wanted to eliminate Millner since he was connected to Starrick. Seeing that Jacob didn't know of her allegiance, Pearl seized the opportunity to take up partnership with him and tasked him with helping her destroy Millner's business and stop him. After having Jacob destroy Millner's buses with parkesine, Pearl decided to hire him and later tasked Frye with taking internal combustion engine from Millner's train. During their next meeting, Pearl and Jacob toasted to their success, and she decided to have Frye eliminate Millner to permanently get rid of her competition.
After Jacob departed to sabotage Millner's shipments and eliminate him, Pearl met with Crawford at a nearby warehouse where Starrick expressed his disappointment with Pearl's actions. She then agreed to return the combustion engine, and told Starrick that she would be on the train at Waterloo station with said engine. Unbeknownst to Pearl and Crawford, Jacob had learned of her allegiance from a dying Millner, and eavesdropped on their conversation before leaving. At the station, Pearl was protected by Blighters and waited for the train to depart to a factory, but was assassinated by Jacob. She warned Jacob that Starrick wouldn't take the news of her death lightly, and that he would retaliate for his actions. After her death, the transportation system in London became destabilized since Attaway Transport and Millner's company being dissolved due to their leader's demise. However, Jacob's sister Evie would stop the Blighters from harassing Edward Bayley, which allowed the London General Omnibus Company to be formed.
