Penumbras is the secondary-antagonist of the Solar Eclipse Event in Tower Defense Simulator, a Roblox game created by Paradoxum Games. He was first introduced to the Tower Defense Community on October 17th, 2021, but he wasn't added to the actual game until December 8th, 2021. He was part of the Night III of the Solar Eclipse Event, and could be fought against in Tower Outskirts. Being defeated by him or his army would result in the player loosing and not being able to move onto Night IV. Defeating him however, would result in the player winning and being able to move onto Night IV. When defeated, he falls to the ground and eventually disappears, leading to the assumption that he is deceased.
On October 28th 2023, he returned in Lunar Overture Event aside the Umbra; showing his backstory and how their life was before they became warlords.
Personality[]
Penumbras has a protective personality. His main goal is to protect The Umbra and try and stop the player from facing her. Because of the relationship with The Umbra, he is very loyal to her and it is even hinted that he has a crush on her.
His relationship with the player is different though. He thinks the player is unworthy of facing The Umbra, and dislikes them heavily; however, he does admire the players skill if they are able to survive his army long enough. If he defeats the player though, he becomes glad and is relieved that he defeated the player, because he had lay his life just to protect The Umbra.
Appearance[]
As a human, he had brown hair in a medieval bowl cut. He has tan skin, and he wears purple armor similar to his corruption form.
Penumbras has a masculine body. His skin is dark, but his arms and torso are glowing pink. He has 3 eyes and 4 dark purple horns that curve to 2 moon-like symbols above his head, with one glowing pink and the other dark purple. These 2 moon-shapes are supposed to look like a penumbra. He has a chest plate that has a combination of gray, dark pink, and purple colors. The chest plate has two opening on the side that show his torso. In the middle of the chest plate is diamond with a large pink orb. He has shoulder pads that are both gray, and farther down his arms he has dark purple vines. He has gray leggings and dark purple boots, and a dark purple moon-shaped accessories on each leg. He also has 2 purple drapes hanging from his torso that go down to his knees. Lastly, he is floating slightly above the ground.
Biography[]
Protecting The Umbra as a human, leading her to leave the Village after being caught by a knight he buys her time; this leads to him getting caught which leads him to yell extremely loud; which makes the Umbra to return after harnessing the power of the God Cube, The Executioner is killed and Penumbras is freed by the Umbra, seeing what she has become; he decides to follow that path with her.
When he and The Umbra travelled to Earth, The Umbra had created a tower to store his and The Umbra's army, the tower being Totality Tower. When the player eventually gets to Tower Outskirts, which is the outside of Totality Tower, he tries to protect the player from getting to The Umbra by using his army. When the player defeats his army, he decides to join the fight but fails and eventually dies.

Trivia[]
- It is implied Penumbras has feelings for The Umbra; as suggested by his dialogue.
- Penumbras name is based off the word "Penumbra", which is the partially shaded area during an eclipse before totality.
- Strangely however, his name has an "s" at the end to likely to separate his name from The Umbra's to cause less confusion.
- He is small compared to most other bosses in Tower Defense Simulator, and is called the "shortest boss" by the Tower Defense Community.
- The enemies he summons are the Cursed Knight, Cursed Guard, Lunar Shard, and Solar Shard. These enemies do not show up in Tower Outskirts, and officially debut in Totality Tower except with more health.
