Phil Pepperman, better known by his surname Pepperman, is the first boss and a major antagonist in the 2023 video game Pizza Tower.

Appearance[]

Pepperman is a giant, red, anthropomorphic pepper, with noodle-like limbs that end with cartoony white gloves and matching shoes, as well as blue eyes and huge grin. In his VS screen portrait, he's depicted with more human-like proportions as well as wearing a dark read shirt with white overalls. At the beginning of his fight, Pepperman's stalk briefly resembles an artist's beret.

Personality[]

Pepperman can be described as a brash, violent, and greedy hothead that prefers to face his opponent head-on without much strategy. He shows some level of sadism when facing Peppino, but tends to be very dimwitted when it comes his interactions with people and the actions he commits for personal gain. He is also a massive narcissist who loves to draw pictures and sculptures of himself, depicting himself as strong and handsome, or at least in a heroic position. His narcissism and idiocy ultimately prove to be his biggest weaknesses, as Peppino was able to use his self-absorbed behavior to his advantage by creating Pepperman statues to distract him long enough to finish him off.

Biography[]

Some time before Peppino raided the Pizza Tower, Pepperman tried to loot it himself. However, Pizzaface offered him an art studio and managed to recruit him. After giving Mr. Stick $100 or 10 Toppins, he opens Pepperman's boss gate for Peppino to challenge him. When Peppino encounters Pepperman, he is making an insulting painting of Peppino before they begin fighting.

His attacks include him trying to rush at Peppino with shoulder bashes and crush him with ground pounds. He also uses his artwork to attack, making minions of his self portraits and dropping statues from the roof of his studio. After being damaged ten times he will regenerate his health once, cycling through more aggressive versions of his previous attacks. On his last point of health he will shrink down, forcing Peppino to chase after him as he runs away in terror, before finally being defeated.

On the next floor of the tower he can be seen spray-painting the fight with Peppino from his perspective, depicting himself as a heroic underdog and Peppino a giant evil monster. He cannot be interacted with, and simply glares at Peppino as he passes by.

Later on in the game, during the final battle against Pizzaface, Pepperman is summoned along with the other three bosses of the tower. This causes Peppino to fly into an unstoppable rage as he violently attacks Pepperman. Despite his attempts to fight back, his attacks haven't changed and he is defeated once more.

After the battle, Pepperman and the other bosses follow Peppino as he escapes the now crumbling tower. Despite this, they went on to chase after Peppino some time after this, as shown during the credits. Peppino offers them free pizza in exchange for a truce, which they seem to accept as the credits show them gathered at a table in Peppino's Pizza. Afterwards, Pepperman seems to be traveling the world, having found success by selling his art.

Trivia[]

  • While Peppino is based on Wario's gameplay style, Pepperman is more closely related to Wario in terms of personality, as both are greedy dimwits with an inflated ego; he even shares the same signature shoulder bash that Wario uses.
  • Pepperman's expression when damaged bears a close resemblance to Enel's infamous shocked expression.
  • It has been confirmed by one of the devs that Pepperman's first name is Phil, with Pepperman being his surname.
  • One of the developers, McPig posted a sketch of Pepperman possessing a warped human skeleton within his body, claiming it to be canon.
    • As McPig has been known to say rather dubious things online while drunk, it's unknown if Pepperman being a human-mutate is actually canon or not.
  • McPig has also stated that his voice sounds like Comic Book Guy from The Simpsons.
