Perseus, also known as the Zombie Warlord, is the overarching antagonist of the Chaos story in the Zombies mode of Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. He is an Olympian demigod, the son of Zeus and Danaë, and the master of the mythical winged horse Pegasus. Wanting his father's throne on Mt. Olympus, Perseus and his men traveled to the sacred city of Delphi to consult the Oracle with the request to initiate the trial of Zeus through the Zeus artifact, so that Perseus could prove himself worthy of ruling over Olympus and the world.
During the trial, Perseus has the Oracle imprisoned within her own temple and was eventually corrupted by the dark power of Prima Materia, turning into an undead (but still immortal) entity who held command over the zombified civilians of Delphi, the Gegenees, and eventually much later a corrupted Pegasus. Late into the early 20th century, he was defeated by the combined efforts of Scarlett Rhodes, Diego Necalli, Stanton Shaw, and Bruno Delacroix.
Appearance[]
Perseus has the appearance of a Greek/Spartan soldier with an athletic build; he wears a commander helmet with a weathered white plume, a pauldron that is infested with Prima Materia and a tattered skirt. Perseus has a horribly disfigured face, with pupiless eyes and a torn lip, while streaks of Prima Materia are on the skin of his right arm and the right side of his torso. Prior to being corrupted, he appeared fair and comely.
Personality[]
Even prior to his corruption, Perseus, as a result of being greatly revered by his people, is a vain, arrogant and egotistical individual, proclaiming himself to be a great hero. In the past and into the present, he developed a strong hunger for power, as he seeks to take the throne of Zeus for himself, due to his delusional belief that it is his birthright alone. in addition, he is extremely foolish, as he believes himself to be worthy of going through the trial. Ever since his corruption, he will oppress and prosecute those who opposed him, and has a lot of confidence in his himself, believing to be unstoppable. During his final battle, Perseus was prone to fits of violent rage, as he corrupted Pegasus for defying him and then killing the winged steed for its failures. When he was defeated by the Chaos team, he was left in shock and disbelief over having been defeated by a group of mortals. With this, he finally received a taste of defeat.
Biography[]
Early Life[]
Perseus was born as the son of his mother Danaë and the mighty Olympian god Zeus. At some point after the 2nd Century BCE, he desired his father's golden throne, as since he has Olympian blood in his veins, he believes the throne is his birthright. Traveling to the sacred city of Delphi with his men and his winged stallion Pegasus, he demands the Oracle known as the Pythia to initiate the trial by activating the Zeus sentinel artifact, as he believes himself to be worthy of completing the trial.
However, she refused, as she knew of Perseus's evil intentions of gaining access to Olympus and usurping the Olympian Gods, his own family, which will cause calamity to the world. This is because, as the Gods are under a deep slumber, due to no longer being prayed to, this will allow Perseus to easily kill them before they realized that they are in danger. Because of this refusal, Perseus retaliated by imprisoning her two sisters Stheno and Euryale, whom he sees as "mere stepping stones", and threatened to kill them unless the Oracle activates the artifact, which she complies before she was cuffed to her chair.
At first, Perseus and his men were helped by the Oracle in completing the trial but she eventually stopped. Euryale and Stheno were eventually executed. As the trial continued on for centuries, it proved too much for Perseus and his men, and the former was corrupted by the Prima Materia, becoming an undead ghoul in the process. As he failed to complete the trial he had just started in the first place, the underground city of Delphi was left infested with undead and dangerous Gegenees.
