Perv Asshat is a major antagonist in the comedy, dark fantasy, light novel, manga, and anime series The Eminence in Shadow, serving as the secondary antagonist of the Black Rose Incident Arc. He is the duke and department head of the Oriana Kingdom and the ex-fiancé and arch-nemesis of Rose Oriana, the princess, later queen of the kingdom, as well as the lover of the kingdom's late queen and Rose's mother Reina Oriana.
He is voiced by Show Hayami in Japanese and by Brandon Hearnsberger in English.
Appearance[]
Perv is a middle-aged with a rather attractive appearance. He has short grey hair parted from the middle and a short beard of the same color on his chin. He usually wears his red-colored noble attire with golden accents with a red cape covering his left shoulder, a beige-colored pant, and a pair of brown shoes with each a V-shaped beige line on it.
Personality[]
An ostensibly respected and intellectual individual, Perv is known for a courteous and soft-spoken demeanor. However, beneath this façade lies a conniving and manipulative strategist, devoid of loyalty and driven solely by personal gain. In confrontational scenarios, he remains nonchalant, often deflecting conversations with trivial chatter, much to the frustration of his interlocutors. Nevertheless, Perv was perceptive enough to recognize when a course of action would backfire. Perv would go to any lengths, including manipulation or assassination, particularly targeting Midgar and its princess. Following the Bushin Festival Tournament, he grew increasingly anxious after witnessing the formidable capabilities of a mysterious figure and his organization. He meticulously orchestrates his schemes, rarely showing signs of anxiety or stress. Upon realizing that the Ring of Succession is no longer in his box, he scrambled to buy time, hoping to locate it. His fears materialized at the wedding when Rose donned the ring, revealing his crimes to all present. His paranoia stemmed from the dire consequences of failing his mission to usurp the kingdom, even with Mordred's backing. His fear intensified after reporting his failed attempt to capture Rose and the loss of their puppet king to the Round Knight.
His final moments arrived when Mordred decapitated him, in his attempt to marry to Rose, to prevent further leaks of Cult intelligence, scornfully citing his failure. Out of coincidence in the story, as his name suggests, Perv is perverted, fully enjoying having love with Reina in the bed, unaware they were being observed by disgusted and shocked Rose.
Perv had the will to exploit those around him to further his ambitions, changing allegiances whenever it suited his plans, which was evident when he became aware of Beatrix's presence and understood the folly of harming her or the princess. This caused him to question the Cult's competence in maintaining their dominance and quashing their chief adversaries. At his supposed wedding with Rose, he attempted to bolster security, yet his unease persisted.
