He is a former serial killer and sex offender, who committed several rapes and murders of his victims until he killed someone that does not fit the profile of his previous victims. Jürgens marks his first appearance in episode 19 "Monster's Abyss" where he is interviewed by Dr. Rudy Gillen.

In English, he is voiced by Isaac C. Singelton Jr, who voiced Incognito from the 2001 Helling anime, Bo'sun from Pirates of the Caribbean series, and Thanos from the 2010 Marvel animated universe. In Japanese he is voiced by Rikiya Koyama.

Biography[]

In the episode, "Monster's Abyss", Dr. Rudy Gillen interviews Peter Jürgens due to the sexual crimes that the man committed. He noticed the oddity of the murders due to Jürgens history of killing girls from age 16-18 but his 12th murder is of a 52 year old women. When interviewing him, Jürgens confessed that he killed the old lady from a request of a friend. After recording his conversation with Tenma, Gillen used that recording to show it to Jürgens as to see how would he react. The criminal responded saying he can relate and that the "monster" does exist. Jürgens did not like the fact that Gillen took what he said as a metaphor and told him to stop using his academic knowledge.

He tells Dr. Gillen that "monsters" do exist right before he strangles him. Gillen tries to reach for the alert button but Jürgens grabs it and tells the doctor if he is scared. He tells the good doctor to go to Kempf mansion and head inside the basement to understand what he's talking about. Dr. Gillen heads to the mansion's basement and found pictures of the owner of the house, Hanna Kempf, with a peculiar boy with glasses. He also found a strange parisian doll the one that Jürgens told him about. Gillen did not see anything unusual and started to doubt Jürgens story until he remember a story from Jürgens about his childhood. As a child, Jürgens use to plead for help from the doll and imagine it grinning at him. He would start seeing his mother anywhere he looked due to the many pictures of her in the basement. Gillen then notice that the boy in the photos were later replaced by a different kid, which is Jürgens. This led Gillen to believe that Jürgens could have not known Hanna Kempf for so long in childhood and the child in the other photos was in foster care. After Gillen's return, Jürgens makes a confession to him.

As it turns out, Jürgens was receiving letters from a stranger calling themselves friend, who knew so much about him. Every week, he started to receive more anonymous letters from the same person. Despite the strange nature of the letters, Jürgens started to enjoy receiving them and accepted the stranger as a friend. One day, a letter came for him telling Jürgens to visit Hanna Kempf's basement. When headed there it triggered his trauma of being harshly punished by her and being placed in her storage room, which is what the basement looked like. This reminder of his trauma encouraged him to kill her. Gillen then searched for letters in Kempf's room and found a pile of them. He notice that each letter contained the same message Tenma was telling him about, leading Gillen to believe that Jürgens "friend" is the Johan that Tenma was talking about. Later on, Gillen obtained a photo of Johan and showed it to Jürgens to see if he recognized him. Jürgens tells Gillen that he met Johan at the park but knew him with a different hair color. Jürgens then killed himself with a pen by aiming it through his eye.

Trivia[]

  • Peter Jürgens seems to be based on Edmund Kemper, an infamous American serial killer, who prayed on young college students and involve himself with necrophilia and dismemberment. Jürgens and Kemper are similar in some ways: both have very intimidating stature, both threaten their interviewers, sharing the same mustache and glasses, targeting young women then someone older, and both have a very dysfunctional relationship with their abusive mothers.

    • Jürgens last victim, Hanna Kempf, could be a reference to Edmund's last name.
