Not much is known about Peter Schuler's early life. Schuler was born in Germany and traveled to Santiago, Chile, during the Pinochet regime, where he met Gustavo Fring. There, the two of them got into some kind of danger and helped each other out of it, becoming close friends in the process.
Schuler joined the global conglomerate Madrigal Electromotive, rising through the ranks to become the head of the company's fast food division. Schuler then used his position to turn Gus' restaurant, Los Pollos Hermanos, into a noteworthy fast food chain. Schuler also began helping Gus use Los Pollos Hermanos as a front for the latter's methamphetamine empire with the aid of Lydia Rodarte-Quayle, in order for Gus to get revenge on the Cartel.
Better Call Saul[]
In the fifth season episode "JMM", Schuler leads a quarterly meeting at Madrigal, congratulating Gus for his earnings at Los Pollos Hermanos.
That night, Gus and Lydia visit Schuler in his room, where is having a nervous breakdown due to Gus' new meth "superlab" being stalled, with the German police's investigations and Lalo Salamanca's increasing interference making it to difficult to embezzle money. Gus calms him down and reassures him that their plan is almost complete, and Lydia promises to take him to a rodeo the following day.
Breaking Bad[]
In the fifth season episode "Madrigal", Schuler is made aware of Gus' death and is being investigated by the German government, who have been notified of Gus' status as a drug kingpin. When the police arrive to question him during a taste test, Schuler goes to the bathroom and commits suicide by attaching an AED device to his chest and tongue and activating it, killing himself to avoid giving details to the authorities.
Personality[]
While amoral enough to do business with a dangerous drug lord, Schuler is a dependable man who is loyal to his friends and treats his employees well. His illegal dealings have also left him feeling perpetually nervous and paranoid, ultimately driving him to kill himself once he knows that the police are on to him.
