Major Petrov is a minor antagonist in the 2009 first-person shooter Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and its 2020 remaster.

Biography[]

Background[]

At one point, Petrov joined the Russian Air Force and it's Spetsnaz and was eventually promoted to the rank of major. When Russia went into its second Civil War in 2011, Petrov was given command of a military base located in Kazakhstan and helped train soldiers for the Ultranationalists. After Imran Zakhaev's assassination at the hands of Captain Price, Petrov would come into contact with Vladimir Makarov, and would help train soldiers for his Inner Circle.

On August 11th, 2016 Petrov was told by one of his lieutenants that two unnamed individuals were found trespassing across the military base and were located inside one of their hangers. Petrov ordered his men to make their way to the hanger while he accessed the intercom to the hanger. After learning of John "Soap" MacTavish's apprehention, Petrov ordered Gary "Roach" Sanderson to reveal himself, or Soap would be executed. Roach would then activate 'plan B', which would explode the artillery and rescue Soap. Petrov then would order the remaining troops to go after the Task Force 141 operators, but was unsuccessful.

Remaster[]

On August 11th, 2016 Petrov was told by one of his lieutenants that two unnamed individuals were found trespassing across the military base and were located inside one of their hangers. Petrov grabbed his megaphone and made his way towards the hanger. He captured Soap, and while holding him at gunpoint, ordered Roach to reveal himself or Soap would be executed. Roach would then activate 'plan B', which would explode the artillery, promting Petrov to look at the disturbance. Depending on the player's actions, Petrov is either killed by Roach or Soap.

Trivia[]

In the original, he was only heard on loudspeakers, however in the remaster he makes a physical appearance.
He is the multiplayer announcer for the spetsnaz.
