The Petrox Corporation, also known as Petrox, are the main antagonists of the 1976 remake of King Kong.
At first, it was thought to be an American oil company which specialized in oil refinement and gas stations, but it later turned out to be a greedy corrupt business organization who only care about money. They are headed by their leader and executive Fred Wilson.
Biography[]
Background[]
Not much is known about Petrox, though it was an American company which specialized in oil refinement and gas stations while their advertising slogan was "the battles we fight to fill up your gas tank". During the 1970s, the United States was hit hard by an embargo from oil exporters, which incentivized domestic oil production and exploration for new resources.
King Kong[]
Fred Wilson and his crew from Petrox set out to find an uncharted island that hasn't been found yet and believes the island may have oil. Before setting for the island, Jack Prescott a primate paleontologist had drugged one of the crew mates, stole the crewmember's uniform and stow aboard the ship.
King Kong Lives[]
They didn't appear in this sequel, because they weren't mentioned and got filed/arrested for bankruptcy and greed.

Trivia[]
- After the events of the 1976 movie, it is most likely implied that the company was shut down while the members of the organization were either fired/arrested for greed, being indirectly responsible for Kong's rampage in New York and endangering thousands of lives after Wilson's death and Kong's downfall on the World Trade Center. It was alluded in the first film that Petrox was in trouble financially, hence why they went so far out to explore.
