Stop hand

Decades ago before I had to deal with the likes of you, I used my magic to lord over a country village. One day, I grew tired of the many gifts the villagers offered me to keep me from destroying their village. So I destroyed their village. One of the survivors proclaimed to put an end to magic, and came after me like dozens before. But this one was different. He used various devices meant to steal my powers. Obviously he failed, but each time he got better, stronger. The last time we faced off, I barely escaped with my magic and my life. Any questions?

Your magic and menace end here, witch!
~ The Phantom Blot to Magica De Spell.

The Phantom Blot is a supporting antagonist in the 2017 DuckTales reboot series. He is a member of FOWL who pretended to be a mascot of Funso's Fun Zone.

He was voiced by Giancarlo Esposito in his true form, who also played Sidney Glass in Once Upon a Time, Gus Fring in Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul, Frank Dawson in Okja, The Dentist in Payday 2, Stan Edgar in The Boys, Moff Gideon in The Mandalorian, Lex Luthor in Harley Quinn, and Antón Castillo in Far Cry 6. As a mascot of Funzo's Fun Zone, he was voiced by Jason Marsden in Season 1 and Eric Bauza in Season 2.

Personality[]

Phantom Blot despises all magic and considers it to be evil. He is vicious and spiteful, seemingly unconcerned about the people he harms in his effort to eradicate mysticism at its source. The Blot, as determined as he is filled with wrath, appears to have created his own anti-magical gadget powerful enough to drain the high sorceress Magica's evil magic. Given that De Spell attributes Blot's ability to become stronger with each new setback he encounters to subsequently modify his tactics, Blot is also highly skilled at improvement and strategic modification.

The Blot is surprisingly sensitive for someone who is so angry and intense, and he appears to be saddened that Pepper is the only F.O.W.L. agent who is prepared to work with him. Though he was originally upset by her, he has now come to appreciate her special position and is excited about the prospect of the two of them working together as a team.

Appearance[]

The Phantom Blot appears as a dark shadow with glowing green eyes. He's dressed in a black hood, cloak, gloves, and boots. He is frequently seen wearing his gold magic-draining gauntlet.

Biography[]

Background[]

In the past the Phantom Blot was a member of a small village that was ruled over by an evil sorceress named Magica De Spell. At one point Magica got bored of the many gifts the villagers would give her to keep her from destroying their village so she destroyed their village. Phantom Blot was able to survive it and grew to hate magic and vowed to put an end to Magica and magic in general for good. He kept going after Magica he failed each time but every time he got better the last time they encountered Magica barely escaped. At some point Phantom Blot joined the organization FOWL.

Season 1[]

Season 2[]

In "Moonvasion!", following General Lunaris' defeat, the Blot, along with Gandra Dee, John D. Rockerduck, Jeeves, Steelbeak and Black Heron, are summoned by The High Command (McDuck Enterprises' Board of Directors), who inform them that the McDuck family, having nearly cost them the world, must be destroyed before they can endanger their operations again.

Season 3[]

The Phantom Blot then appears as the main antagonist in the episode, "The Phantom and the Sorceress!".

He makes a cameo in "Escape from the ImpossiBin!", where he captures Gene the Genie (while the latter was calling to warn Scrooge).

He then returns in the episode, "The Fight for Castle McDuck!" as the main antagonist, where he attempts to find a priceless artifact for FOWL and destroy Castle McDuck once and for all.

It's currently completely unknown what happened to The Phantom Blot along with the remaining F.O.W.L. agents afterwards.

Powers and Abilities[]

Phantom Blot devised a mechanical gauntlet capable of siphoning magic. It may also nullify spells by draining magic and transforming items like chains back into toys. When he is vanquished, Phantom Blot enhances his gauntlet, making it more powerful with each defeat dealt to him by Magica De Spell and others. The glove appears to have limitations, since it can get overloaded if it absorbs too much power. When the glove is totally destroyed or broken, all of the magic he absorbs returns to its original source, as witnessed in "The Last Adventure!" when Gene the Genie managed to safely escape from the Library of Alexandria after the gadget was destroyed.

Trivia[]

  • His gauntlet is somewhat similar to the Infinity Gauntlet used by the Marvel supervillain Thanos.
  • Magica stated it wad decades ago when she fought the Blot, suggesting he may be in his 50s.
  • None of the F.O.W.L. Eggheads like him except for Pepper.
  • It's unknown what happened to the Phantom Blot and the rest of the FOWL agents after Bradford's defeat.
