~ Puppeteer chasing Mystery Inc. |
The Phantom Puppeteer is the main antagonist of the Scooby-Doo, Where Are You? episode, "The Backstage Rage".
He was voiced by the late Vic Perrin.
History
Pietro is a master puppeteer at the Strand Theatre. He took the disguise of a Phantom Puppeteer to scare away people from the theatre so he could continue with his money counterfeiting operation. In the beggining of the episode "The Backstage Rage" the phantom puppeteer drives past Shaggy and Scooby Doo who is walking on a road with a pizza. Suddenly he drive on a bump on the road and a violin case falls out from the car. Shaggy and Scooby pick it up and sees that it's full of money. The puppet master comes back and lures Scooby with a puppet of a female dog and takes back the violin case. Eventually, the Scooby gang comes to the theatre to investigate. They get locked in the building and start to look for clues. The phantom puppeteer tries to hurt the gang in several ways. First he pushes a flat that nearly fell down on Shaggy, second he pulls down another flat that nearly dropped down on Scooby, third he cut the rope of a sand bag so that the sand bag was close to hit Velma in the head. The phantom puppeteer tries to scare the gang with puppets but he only gives them more clues. At the end the gang finds the puppet master's printing press and the money that he makes. So the gang captures and unmask him. They call the police and the police take Pietro away thus ending his money counterfeiting.
Personality
At first Pietro seems like a humble man when Mystery Inc. first arrived, but that is just a cover up for his more sinister side. He is a greedy and covetous man who only seemed to care about money. As the phantom puppeteer he shows his real side. He is sinister and violent. He tries to hurt the gang many times with things at the theatre although he never succeeds. He pushes a flat down at Shaggy that nearly crushes him, he pulls down another flat that nearly smash Scooby and he cuts a rope to a sandbag that drops down next to Velma that could have hit her on the head and maybe making her faint. Thus is evident that he is violent and is willing to hurt and harm anyone in any way, just so he can continue making fake money.
Trivia
- He doesn't have a proper name like most other villains in Scooby Doo, just several given descriptions from what he looks like.
