The Phantron is a character in the Star Fox series. He makes his only appearance in the first game. Fox and his team fight him near Venom.
Biography[]
The Phantron begins the battle by flying in. During phase 1, he just fires his lasers and dodges around. Damaging enough provokes him to enter phase two, where he spins in the air and appears to be there multiple times. He then splits into three and continues his first phase's strategy. Damaging him enough causes the boss to retreat. Firing a Smart Bomb at the Phantron when he is in Venom Orbit will cause his temper to flare. This causes him to fire a krypton missile in your direction. Standing still will cause the missile to fly past harmlessly (It detects motion). The missile's detonation causes an automatic loss on the player's behalf.
The Phantron is later fought on Venom itself. He reuses his first battle's second phase strategy at first, but damaging him enough causes him to transform into a more powerful form with two legs. In this form, he can spam shoot his lasers and fire something from his legs. Damaging him enough causes him to revert to ship form, whereupon he quits and flees. Firing a bomb at him does not provoke him into counterattacking during this battle.
Trivia[]
- The Gorgon can deceive her opponents through physics-bending ways during her battle, similar to how the Phantron can. They are both vigilantes, in fact.
