~ Phase to her father West.

Phase is a member of Viper and the secondary antagonist of Red vs. Blue: Zero. She is the daughter of Shatter Squad's Agent West and a subject of an experiment from Starlight Laboratories that saved her life but also gave her powers.

History[]

Past[]

Born as Danyell, Phase is the daughter of Agent West. At some point she had a brother and sister, as well as a mother, but all three at some point died. Phase had a severe illness that would have killed her, so West handed her over as a child to Starlight Laboratories, the science branch of the Alliance of Defense, who saved her using experimental technology that also happened to give her superhuman powers. However, the feeling of being used like a lab rat left her relationship with her father strained, and desired revenge for what she perceived as inhumane treatment. To this end, she joined Zero and his syndicate, alongside Diesel, to help him find the Ultimate Power, with Phase seeking revenge against her father and Shatter Squad, who she viewed as his "replacement" family.

Zero[]

Viper attacked the Falcon Base where an alien artifact was being held. Phase fought Agent Carolina, managing to get the advantage over her as Zero and Diesel wounded Agent Washington, stealing the artifact. Phase later accompanies Zero to another temple containing one of the Great Keys needed to unlock the door sealing the Ultimate Power. Although the Temple Guardian was massive and strong, Phase and Zero managed to take him down and obtain the key.

Meanwhile, as Agent East, she trained with Shatter Squad under Axel, who was a former friend and colleage of Zero under GLASS, and Agent Carolina. On a mission in the city, Phase fought her own holo-echo as part of her ploy. Viper easily defeated Shatter Squad again, and targeted Lavernius Tucker, who held one of the Great Keys. East was "wounded" during the fight and was brought on board by Tucker. At this point, East revealed her true colors and stabbed Tucker, taking the key from him and reuniting with her original self, Phase.

With the Great Keys in hand, Viper went to the temple where the Ultimate Power was located and unlocked the door. During Shatter Squad's attack, Agent One attempted to bring "East" back to them, but West fought his daughter on his own. Phase, using her power and her holo-echo, fought West and furiously berated him for abandoning his biological family for Shatter Squad. West defends himself in combat, but admits he did what he did to save her life and apologizes for not being there for her. Phase knocks him out and beats him, but ultimately spares his life.

Later, to everyone's surprise, Phase joins the fight between Shatter Squad and Zero, helping Shatter Squad stop her former boss but making it clear she's doing it for herself, not for them. Agent One and Phase tag-team against him, defeating Zero despite his enhanced power. Phase and the rest of Shatter Squad witness Black Lotus mockingly complimenting their skills in spite of being human before fusing with the Zero's new armor (the Ultimate Power) and transporting him elsewhere.

Ultimately, Phase returns to Shatter Squad, where everyone reveals their real names to each other and leave as a team.

Trivia[]

  • Phase is the third antagonist in the series to redeem herself, after Agent Washington and Locus (Loco is technically not a true villain and more of a bumbling minion with good intentions, and Chrovos still had her own villainous agenda despite helping the Reds and Blues stop Genkins).
