Phillip Barnes is a flashback villain in Dexter, mentioned in the episode "Swim Deep".
He was portrayed by a currently unknown actor.
Biography[]
Phillip Barnes was a Miami-based wedding photographer, with a wife named Patricia and a son named Tyler, both of whom he would regularly beat. Whenever he was out working, he would approach a female guest from out of town and charm her into coming to his hotel room, where he would kill them. He would then photograph their corpse, keeping the photos as souvenirs.
At some point, the deaths came to the attention of vigilante serial killer Dexter Morgan, who investigated and identified Barnes as the killer. On 19 May 2007, Dexter stalked Barnes to an out-of-town wedding reception, where he abducted him, but not before his picture was taken. He then took a blood slide from Barnes before killing him and dumping his body in the ocean.
Barnes's disappearance was investigated by Captain Maria LaGuerta and Dexter's sister Lieutenant Debra Morgan in connection with re-opening an investigation into the Bay Harbor Butcher (Dexter's killer identity). Debra found the photo of Dexter during the investigation, but gave it to Dexter, who destroyed it, allowing Phillip's disappearance to go unsolved.
