“ | You know, Michelle, I deal with a lot of brides, and you have the most elagant bearing of any woman I've ever known. I bet you're practically going to float down the aisle. | „ |
~ Philo Newcombe |
Philo Newcombe (also known as the Heartbreaker) is the 4th Elusive Target of HITMAN III. He is a professional wedding planner who is secretly a serial killer who targets his brides and grooms so that he could seduce their widowed partner.
He was voiced by Lance Fuller
Biography[]
Philo Newcombe's mother tragically died when he was young, and the grieving Philo put her on a pedestal. Despite living an otherwise privileged life, he despised his stepmother, as well as his father for remarrying to her. Philo left home at the age of 18 to seek his destiny in the fabled state of Vermont where he found work as a part-time server and caterer's assistant, later starting a successful wedding company. He was less successful romantically, the women he dated never reaching up to the standard put up by his mother.
Unfortunately, Newcombe started mixing work with pleasure in the worst way possible. Falling in love with the brides who he catered for, Newcombe began murdering their partners in order to seduce them. He would then grow bored of his lover and seek a new one. One of his lovers discovered that he murdered her fiancé and hired Agent 47 to assassinate him.
Behaviour[]
Newcombe is showing around Vinedo Yates to a newly engaged couple, Michelle Pachceco and Phoebe Morris. He guides them to the dance floor, the cinema and the vineyard, describing the various features of the amenities and offering suggestions. While Michelle is impressed by Vinedo Yates and receptive to his suggestions, Phoebe is much more critical.
Newcombe is clearly enamoured with Michelle, complimenting and praising her. Conversely, he expresses a strong dislike of Phoebe, seeing her as classless and plotting to kill her so that he could romance Michelle.
Sneaking into the parking lot and breaking into Newcombe's van, 47 can steal Newcombe's scrapbook and present it to either of the women, who, terrified that their wedding planner is a deranged serial killer, would make up an excuse and leave him. Newcombe will spend the rest of the mission in the cinema.
Trivia[]
- An overview of Newcombe's scrapbook shows several brides with their heads circled, showing that he is bisexual. This makes him the first confirmed LGBT elusive target, the fifth confirmed LGBT target in the series after Edward Wade, Skip Muldoon, Alvaro D'Alvade and Richard Delahunt and the first confirmed LGBT target not to be a rapist.
- He shares a physical and personality similarity with Ted Bundy, one of the most notorious serial killers in American history. They are both lustful serial killers who use charisma to get their way.
- Among the brides and grooms are Nila Torvik, Scott Sarno, Howard Moxon and Dino Bosco, previous targets, and the bride and groom from "The Last Yardbird".
- Newcombe represents the sin of Lust, being obsessed with men and women who capture his fancy, killing their spouses in order to seduce them.
