Commanders make heavy use of their personal teleporter, moving to favorable positions and across the battlefield, giving orders and support as needed. They carry all of the weaponry and gear used by commandos, with the exception of their armor, which is forged out of ultrarare Red Phazite. A rare breed, Pirate Commanders have lived to rise to the ruling caste on the Pirate Homeworld. Each has been a commando for at least ten years.
~ The logbook's entry on the Pirate Commander

The Pirate Commander is a supporting antagonist and a boss in Metroid Prime 3: Corruption.

He is a Space Pirate commander who had stayed as a Commando Pirate for ten years which is enough to earn the rank of a commander. Following Gandraya's death, the Pirate Commander assumes leadership of the Pirate forces on the Pirate Homeworld against Samus and the Galactic Federation forces.

Biography[]

Past[]

This individual Pirate Commander originally started off as a Commando Pirate who is well-known for being the most resilient to the lesser Pirates and into missions as a part of a Commando squad led by a single Pirate Commander. Ten years in service and after a Leviathan impact on the homeworld, he earned the rank of becoming a commander who was in charged of his squad of Commando Pirates and pledging his allegiance to Dark Samus once the Pirates gather enough Phazon to enhance and weaponized their forces despite their corruption.

Metroid Prime 3: Corruption[]

After Gandraya's corruption into becoming a Space Pirate Mistress due to her Phazon corruption, the Pirate Commander becomes her second in command to be in charge of the Space Pirate operations as the planet is on the verge to total corruption to becoming another Phaaze. While this was happening, Samus makes her arrival to the planet and was spotted when she mistakenly got herself caught, triggering an alarm and alerting the Pirate Commander's squad. The Pirate Commander, enraged in seeing her arrival, orders his commandos to dispose of her while teleporting away only for Samus to manage to defeat the commandos.

When Gandraya got killed by Samus, the Pirate Commander assumes full command of the Pirate forces on the homeworld to protect the planet and to keep the shield on from Samus. This went out of hand for the commander as his mission to safeguard the shield generator failed giving the Galactic Federation enough time to begin the invasion of the planet and sending in Demolition Troopers to help Samus in her mission to destroy the Leviathan. During the invasion, the Pirate Commander leads a Pirate defense force to hold off their forces and seen killing two of the Federation Marines during battle. He then summons Commando Pirates against Samus and a team of Demolition Troopers (depending on how much she can save during the assault) and falls back to the entry to the tunnel to the Leviathan where he would await his next battle if Samus breaks through.

Samus breaks through to the entrance where she attempts to give the Demolition Troopers to detonate the doors to the seed, only the the Pirate Commander to reveal himself and knocking Samus off the ledge this time to fight her personally with the support from four Commando Pirates with him. During his battle, his armor will prove to be resistant to some of Samus's abilities like the X-Ray Visor and the Nova Beam despite taking minimal damage but his weakness consisting of the PED Beam and PED Missiles are known to deal much damage to him and will trigger his Hypermode at some point before he loses his armor to expose him. Depending on player choice, if the player kills the Pirate Commander first, the Commando Pirates will be the remaining obstacles for Samus to defeat or if Samus defeats the Commando Pirates first despite how more will be summoned by the Pirate Commander will summon, he will be on his own to fight against the hunter. Once the commander dies in battle, the entry to the Leviathan will be access with Samus entering to fight the seed's guardian Omega Ridley and destroying the Leviathan in the process.

Trivia[]

  • Despite metions of more than one commander, this Pirate Commander is the only one to be seen and fought against by the player along with the Phazon Elite.
