Planktonamor is the main antagonist of the SpongeBob SquarePants episode, "Dunces and Dragons".
He is an evil sorcerer who plans on taking over Bikini Bottom Shire so that he can rule it. He is also the archenemy of King Krabs, the kidnapper of Princess Pearl, and the ancestor of Plankton.
Just like his descendant, he was voiced by Doug Lawrence.
Personality-wise, Planktonamor is similar to his modern-day descendants, Plankton and Dead-Eye Plankton. Planktonamor is notorious in the kingdom because he possesses a great power over magic and the ability to control the Dragon Jellyfish. Like his main counterpart, he is a ruthless yet overconfident threat. Ultimately, despite passing himself off as a dangerous sorcerer, Planktonamor lacks the power to back his claims up.
Biography[]
Planktonamor was the medieval ancestor of Plankton. It was stated in a prophecy that Planktonamor wanted to rule King Krabs' Kingdom, Bikini Bottom Shire. He had his Dragon Jellyfish terrorize the kingdom and pressured King Krabs to the point where the King himself almost executed the two knights who were foretold to stop Planktonamor (SpongeBob and Patrick). Planktonamor also kidnapped the king's daughter, Princess Pearl, and he planned to kill her unless the kingdom was surrendered to him. Not long after Planktonamor's Dragon Jellyfish kidnapped the princess, King Krabs apologized to both knights and sent them off to save the day alongside Squidly.
Later, the Dark Knight fooled the castle guards into letting them in by pretending to torture SpongeBob, Patrick, and Squidly. After climbing a very high flight of stairs, the four managed to rescue the princess and engaged in combat with Planktonamor. They wee soon attacked by the Dragon Jellyfish, but just when all hope seemed lost, SpongeBob managed to become friends with the monster by feeding it Krabby Patties. Having made amends with SpongeBob and the gang, the dragon jellyfish burned Planktonamor, reducing him to ashes. The wizard then said one last line "Curses! You win.".
Powers and Abilities[]
Magic: Planktonamor excels in using magic. That said, most of his abilities aren't as powerful as one would think.
Lightning Blasts: Planktonamor can conjure blue electrical blasts, but the blast seems to be rather weak, as it is only strong enough to employ tickle torture.
Dragon Jellyfish Taming and Control: It's implied that the secret of his ability to control his Dragon Jellyfish is by taming it with its favorite meal. This explains how his pet later turned against him upon tasting better meals from both SpongeBob and Patrick.
Trivia[]
The episode's title, "Dunces and Dragons," is a reference to the popular tabletop role-playing game Dungeons and Dragons.
On that note, Planktonamor's role as a sorcerer is reminiscent of one of the DnD player classes: Sorcerer.
