Plastique (real name Bette San Souci) is a supporting antagonist from DC Comics.

History[]
Modern Age[]
Plastique
Bette San Souci was a member of a band of extremist French Canadian separatists who engage in terrorist activity against both Canada and the United States of America. This group believed that United States capitalists exploit French Canadian resources. Wearing a costume covered with bombs, San Souci assumed the "Plastique" alterego and invaded the offices of the New York News Express, New York City's fourth largest newspaper. She demanded that unless the News Express agreed by 10:00 PM that night to abandon its paper mills in Quebec she would kill everyone in the building. Confronted by the super-hero Firestorm, Plastique decided to make herself a martyr to her cause dramatically by destroying herself along with anyone else in the building.
She activated the bombs on her costume, which would explode within seconds. However, Firestorm ruined her plan by using his matter, rearranging power to make all her clothing vanish, making her a laughingstock. He then scooped up the bombs and flew them outside, where they detonated with out harming anyone. The humiliated Plastique went to prison and Firestorm foiled a plot by her fellow terrorist; Le Flambeau, to blackmail New York City into freeing her. But Plastique's lawyer brought her an experimental serum developed by a man called "The Doctor" for the terrorists' Project Bomb-Burst. She had him inject her with the serum, which gave her the power to project explosive force from her fingertips.
Plastique used her new power to break out of prison and she joined forces with the second Killer Frost. With Frost's aid, Plastique attempted to strike out against both the United States and Canada, which both drew hydroelectric power from Niagara Falls. Plastique told Killer Frost to freeze the falls while she herself destroyed the power plant. However, Firehawk defeated Frost and Firestorm tricked Plastique into knocking her self unconscious from the recoil of one of her explosions. Firehawk and Firestorm then delivered Plastique and Killer Frost to the legal authorities. She eventually joined the Suicide Squad
The New 52[]
As she developed, Plastique's radical ideology waned. After serving with the Suicide Squad, she became a thief and mercenary targeting Firestorm before joining the Outsider's Secret Society during The New 52. In advance of the Crime Syndicate's invasion of Earth, Plastique attempted to murder Madame Xanadu, infiltrated A.R.G.U.S., and tried to claim the bounty on the Rogues.
A goth-futuristic version of Plastique was also introduced in the Futures End storyline. This version of the character began working as a thief and mercenary in the year 2020 and eventually crosses paths with Batman (Terry McGinnis), whose she later began a relationship. Following DC Rebirth, Plastique battled the Justice League and bombed a wedding attended by Etta Candy and Wonder Woman. She was last seen holidaying on criminal paradise Zandia.
Powers and Abilities[]
Originally Plastique had no super-powers but wore a costume covered with plastic explosives, which she could trigger and detach manually. After being injected with the Doctor's serum, she gained the power to project tremendous explosive force at will by touching an object with her fingertips. Plastique is also a fair hand-to-hand combatant.

She was caught in an explosion by one of her own devices when Deadshot detonated it from a distance so that rest of the team could escape. She was wounded but still alive when last seen, mainly because Captain Atom attempted to take the brunt of the blast.
