The Plax are major antagonists in the Sonic the Comic comic book series. They are a hive-minded race of xenophobic alien androids who once allied with Robotnik to bring destruction upon other species.
Biography[]
Sonic the Comic[]
Sonic first encountered the Plax on the microscopic world of Shanazar, as they were drilling the ground for Magnaz and caused earthquakes in nearby towns with their operations. When Sonic informed them of the consequences of their actions, the Plax dismissed them, as they believed other creatures' lives didn't matter. since fighting the Plax directly was difficult for Sonic due to the elastic Plastic-X material they were made of, he instead sabotaged their drilling rig by running circles around it opposite its rotation, causing the Plax to swear vengeance on the hedgehog.
At some point after the merge of Shanazar and Mobius, the Plax came in contact with Ivo Robotnik. Believing the doctor to be the "Great Destroyer", the figure prophecised to be their spiritual leader, they joined efforts with him to create devices that would transfer life energy of Mobius and Earth to Robotnik's body, withering both planets in the process. During the Freedom Fighters' operation to disable these devices, Grimer convinced the Plax to turn on Robotnik, as he was secretly planning to backstab the Plax and take their life energy for himself. Realizinf that he wasn't the "Great Destroyer", the Plax attacked Robotnik, but he wiped them all out.
Sonic the Comic Online![]
A single Plax, Bob, was revealed to have survived to the present day. Unlike the rest of his species, he was not part of the hive-mind, and was thus banished by his kind. He eventually became a member of the League of Super-Evil Villains, and later the Cybernix.
Physiology[]
“ | There is no individual in charge. We are the Plax. We operate as one mind. One mission. | „ |
~ The Plax introducing themselves to Sonic. |
The Plax are artificial life forms with bodies made of Plastic-X, which makes them highly elastic and resistant to physical damage. Instead of being born, new members of the race are produced in factories powered by Magnaz. Due to their hive mind, the species lack individuals, operating instead as a single mind, with the only exception to the rule having been banished for his individuality. The Plax are also able to scan people's minds to verify if they are telling the truth.
Behaviour[]
The Plax hold supremacist views, considering himself worthy of ruling over all other races and disregarding any damage they do to them in pursuit of their objectives. They believe in the "Great Destroyer", a figure prophecised to lead the androids to prosperity by wiping out organic life forms and letting the Plax occupy and seed their worlds.
