The Plump Demon is a minor antagonist in the Smiling Friends episode "Charlie Dies and Doesn't Come Back."

He was voiced by Michael Cusack, who also voices various characters in the same series.

Appearance[]

He is a a rotund, short demon with pinkish-red skin and bulging eyes featuring bright red, scribbled pupils and off-white scleras. Two small, off-white curved horns jut from the side of his head. He has a protruding belly with sparse, dark hair on his chest and in his pubic region. Small, crimson bat-like wings adorn his back. His short and stubby limbs end in pig-like cloven hooves for feet. He grips a crimson cardboard pitchfork with three prongs and wears no clothing.

Personality[]

Initially, he presents himself as a self-assured, menacing, and wicked demon, asserting that he is Charlie's tormentor and ruler in Hell for the rest of time. However, his facade crumbles along with his improvised Hell scene. In truth, he is a timid and highly sensitive person who breaks into tears when Charlie unintentionally criticizes the effort he invested in creating the scene, insisting that he leaves the room.

Biography[]

After Charlie awakens in Hell, he is greeted by the plump demon who introduces himself as Charlie's new master. The demon then shows Charlie his vile, Hellish accommodations: a sentient toilet and mattress made of flesh and bones. Additionally, the demon presents Jeremy, purportedly Charlie's sole source of hellish entertainment. When the cheap wallpaper collapses, the demon is forced to confesses to Charlie that his arrival has exhausted him and that Hell isn't what it once was. He explains that Satan has caused Hell to freeze over due to his own deep depression. Despite his efforts to appear menacing, the demon breaks down when Charlie points out that his "evil pitchfork" is made of cardboard. The demon, in tears, asks Charlie to leave while being consoled by Jeremy, lamenting the effort he put into recreating Hell for him.
